that summertime spring-fling left just as fast
as it came before I even had the chance to
think it through. he showed up with the sun,
just a piece of friendly company
to color up the shade,
and demonstrated the endless possibilities for
two so young and careless,
living amongst the abundance of such
sugary sweets.
never thought it was love but
it felt so close-
the mere simplicity saved us from corruption,
and so those few times spent in
each other’s presence
remain as they were:
there are no wonders,
there is no thinking back,
it was what it was and so
we ended with the sun.
