Merlin/Gwaine
Hi there! It's been forever since my last update, but I finally feel motivated to post again, so here I am. And today I'd like to talk about this show called Merlin (some of you might have heard of it) and my rapidly growing infatuation with Merlin/Gwaine.
The Eye of the Phoenix might be one of my favourite episodes of the entire show so far. It just had a very epic feel to it and there was hardly anything I didn't like about it. Though, for me personally, Gwaine's return was by far the best thing about it. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that having Gwaine on the show makes everything much more enjoyable, even the parts that I don't usually like, which is why he totally needs to be a series regular next year. Basically, Gwaine > everyone!
And now let's talk about Merlin/Gwaine for a bit. I've been already shipping them casually since Gwaine's first appearance in 3x04, but that's mostly because I ship Merlin with pretty much anyone (well, almost anyone). After last week, however, my love for them somehow grew into this gigantic thing which took on a life of its own, and I'm actually shipping them more than Merlin/Arthur right now (something I never thought was possible).
I still love M/A, but more for what they could be rather than what they actually are on the show. They do have this whole epic destiny thing going on after all, and I will always love them for that, but with the way their relationship has been portrayed lately, I'm just not feeling very shippy towards them anymore. :/ I should probably mention here that Merlin is my favourite character, so seeing him getting abused and mistreated on a regular basis is not really the way into my pants to my heart. Which is why I'm so happy to have someone like Gwaine on the show. Someone who's actually nice to Merlin for a change, who appreciates him and is not afraid to show it, and, most importantly, someone who doesn't get instantly killed off (though he did get banished from Camelot, lol). It also doesn't hurt that Gwaine's insanely hot, funny, loyal, sweet, courageous, and has amazing hair. He's kind of perfect, really. ♥
And then there's also this:
Merlin: Why do you want to do this?
Gwaine: Same reason as you. Help a friend.
Merlin: Arthur’s lucky to have us.
Gwaine: Not Arthur.

I also love the scene where they have their heads pressed against opposite sides of a wall. That's a classic slash metaphor right there!
Oh, and let's not forget about the hugging! :D
Ahh, I just love them so much! *draws big sparkly hearts around them*
