Bodies

Bodies,

Last Monday we went to MOSI right here in Tampa. They have this exhibition called Bodies.
It was amazing. Thru preservation they have actual human bodies, showing the muscles, the bones, the nerve system, etc. etc.
It was like a 'hands-on' anatomy class.
Let me tell you, one thing is to see pictures in a book and another totally different is to see an actual body.
They divided the exhibition in sections: Muscles, Bones, Nerve System, Circulatory System, Digestive System, and a few others.
It was very impressive to see the muscles that are involved when running and how they are layered (picture shows layers of muscles).

The Nerve system was really impressive. You could see the nerves going from the finger tip to your brain (you could follow it if you wanted). Then you see when all of these nerves join, like a thick rope, in your spine and go up to your brain. Really impressive.

But what impressed me the most was the Circulatory System. They had a complete body, just the veins and vessels. They kept the shape of the body...but remove everything else: muscles, bones, organs, etc.
It was like seeing a "3D Mesh" of a human body.
And they not only had a full body, they also had a leg and a full arm. In those you can see in more details how the blood vessels are arranged, for example around your fingers.
Of course I wanted to know how they did that...how they managed to carve the muscles and everything else without breaking the circulatory system. The answer: They injected something to the body so that the whole circulatory system hardens and colors. Then it's easier to take out the rest. But even like that, it took them a really long time to do it.
To bad I couldn't take pictures.
The whole experience made me meditate about how impressive our bodies are and what a great designer Jehovah is.

They also had examples of certain illness, like bone cancer, breast cancer, smoker lung, etc.
One was really freaky. It was some sort of tumor, really big. But for some reason, this tumor starts to create "random" cells from your DNA and forms body parts. The one shown had some hair, teeth and the beginning of an eye. All within the tumor (which I forgot the name for this specific kind).

I would like to go again, to see other things in more detail (we got there late so we were kind of rushing). If you are (or will be) around Tampa, and you are not freaked out by seeing this kind of stuff, I recommend for you to go. Check the website (above) for details.
