I remember being on Union Square on election day, 2 years ago. It was jam-packed, the people were streaming there from all directions. When the Obama's victory was announced, the whole place erupted in jubilation that I haven't witnessed in my almost 20 years here. Not even when Yankees won. Neither the Giants. Nor the Rangers.
I was on the Union Square today. There, the ever-present demagogues were preaching politics to the group of about 30 folks . And when one of the speakers mentioned that memorable night, there was clapping - of one person. Just one. The rest kind of continued to sit indifferently or shook their heads. So much for the approval rating. At least there were no boos.
