Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Man, there gets to be so much to talk about when you haven't updated in a while. Quick summary:

1. The second day we were supposed to meet up with dvswraatins, we didn't really want to go into London due to all the unrest, so D came over here and hung out with us. We went to the park with the dog and watched Captain America (legally...) and had REALLY GOOD pizza. HEE!

2. The day after that was pretty calm, we drove around a bit and spent most of the day playing Lego Batman. FYI, Robin wins at everything. <333333333333333333333333333333333333333

3. The following day we went to a shopping center in Lakeside where we went nuts and bought...one shirt each. Well, and some jewlery, and a pair of AWESOME shoes for £5!! Suz was in seventh heaven as she found a Baskins and Robbins stand that had Captain America ice cream. Naturally, she had to sacrifice herself and try some, poor thing...

We ate at this awesome-looking American diner that had crap food but awesome jukeboxes. At some point, there are going to be pictures posted.

4. Yesterday we went to the Secret Bunker (I love that there were actual signs pointing to it with "Secret Bunker" on them). While you can tell they're not working on a huge budget, and while there were both suspect mannequins and sometimes very suspect smells, I really enjoyed it. It was fascinating to see how they'd thought of all these things to solve problems in case of a nuclear attack. There was this info movie that had been secretly shot so that it could be released to the public in case of a nuclear attack. It was pretty chilling to see them inform how to burn stuff and use rubber gloves and always change shoes when you came from outside etc. It had to have been incredibly scarring living under the threat of that.

We ended the day with North & South, which was four hours of pure brilliance. While it got a bit romance novel-y at times, I really enjoyed the setting and the working class vs masters plot, and Richard Armitage was hot like burning.

5. Today, it was time to meet up with dvswraatins again, which was an absolute pleasure, yet again. HEE! We went to Forbidden Planet and while the first floor with all the figurines and mugs and various cool and random things, that was nothing compared to the graphic novels section downstairs. We spent so long just drifting from shelf to shelf, agonizing about which novels to get and which to leave behind. I didn't get quite all that I wanted, because not only would it be very heavy getting them all home, they're EXPENSIVE, but I got four or five, as well as a Tali from Mass Effect action figure (she is GORGEOUS ♥).

(For those of you interested/those of you who've read them, the novels I got:

The Invincible Iron Man: Stark: Disassembled
Iron Man: Extremis
Batman: Hush
The Uncanny X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills
X-Men Origins II)

After that, we wandered over to Chinatown, since I had been longing for some Aromatic Crispy Duck since I arrived in London (we don't have any proper Chinese restaurants where I live). The duck was FANTASTIC and much fannish talk was had during lunch and over coffee. We then moved on and I bought some postcards (which I will send...eventually...) and we went into another comic book store. I decided to get an X-Men Origins graphic novel because it had Emma Frost on the cover, and when I went to the till to pay, the conversation went something like this:

Cute guy behind till: Oh sorry, I don't know how much this is, the tag is gone. We're just gonna check.
Me: That's alright, I don't mind.
Cute guy: Yeah, it only says in dollars and oh my, I'm sorry, I just realized that she's actually only wearing panties.
Me: *bursts out laughing*

Finally, before taking a cab to Liverpool Street, we paused at a pub where the girls had a diet coke and I had a Bat Breeze, because, well, it was called Bat Breeze. Sadly, it was not black as we had all hoped, but orange. It was, however, delicious.

Spending the train ride home each engrossed in our comics, we had to say goodbye to D. D: Until next weekend, D, until next weekend...
