Stargate Atlantis - 3x04 - Sateda

Let's ignore the fact that I haven't watched 3x03 yet and move on.

Oh my god. It was like these thousands of perfect little moments, only they were all in one single ep. It's like the plot was built only so that they could all show how much they care about each other.

It was FANFIC ON SCREEN.

Honestly, by the hair reference it was officially fanfic. By the time we got to the hug, it was GREAT fanfic. Okay, so it was great pretty much all along, but...just...how can an episode be good every single second?

When the plot or lines weren't cool, there was this amazing editing of incredibly neat flashbacks. And the colors! It reminded me a bit of the Firefly ep Out of Gas the way the different times had different colors. And someone had played with a softening filter too. Very nice.

And how cool was that fighting scene in darkness?

And was just fresh and cool and while the plot wasn't original, the take of it was. Just when I was starting to worry that SGA was getting a bit too comfortable in the way it was made, this ep arrives.

Ronon. Man, what a massive mindfuck. Poor guy. I wasn't too impressed by his girlfriend, too much perfection and not enough personality for me, but I forgave a lot because of the pretty editing (see above).

Shep. First I was knocked down by the leather jacket, and then the little speech to Teyla, and then teasing Rodney on the floor, and then "I think he'd get over it." and and and! Shep love at the maximum. Man. "I'd do anything. For anyone of you."

Rodney. "Wait a minute. That's my ASS, isn't it?" Nuff said.

Carson. I love this fond look he seems to reserve just for Rodney.

Elizabeth. I've finally figured it out. Torri Higginson is to Elizabeth as Scott Bakula is to Archer. They're both so much cooler than their characters, and their characters *should* be so much cooler than they are. Seriously, what *happened* to SG-Elizabeth? And I'm not talking about Weir I, though I loved her.

Teyla. When she and Shep are having that conversation, she has this nervous little tick where she's tapping her thumb against her other hand as Shep struggles for words. Love that. I love that Teyla is this kickass (literally) female character, but it can so easily be over the top. Small stuff like that, and that breath she let out after the talk with Shep at the end of Conversion makes my day. It makes her so much more human. And then Shep tears up and then *she* tears up and... Scratch fanfic, that's not fanfic. You don't get away with that in fanfic. *glee*

So, glee all around. Good lines, good scenes, amazing editing, pretty pretty colors and...everyone was extremely pretty in this ep weren't they? /end shallowness that she almost forgot to include
