Howl's Moving Castle

Jun 26, 2005 23:57

Finally gonna watch it, with subtitles. Sorry, Christian, I just couldn't wait for you, honey.

*bounces a little as file starts playing*

The castle looks very different from how I imagined it.

She isn't talking to the hats? Dude! That's an entire storyline missed!

Wow, Howl's hair is really long.

I like Sophie's expressions. :D Very relaxed...not.

Hey! It's the black blob from SGA! Only several and...wearing hats. Huh.

So far, very different from the book. Must stop comparing. But I looooove the book!

Oooo, the witch. Wow, she's wide.

Still bummed that they didn't have the talking-to-the-hats bit.

And she's so cuuuuuute as old. Ahahaha! SO cute.

Crackle-snap-pop. Poor back.

Scarecrow!

Aww, brought her a cane.

She's very tenacious for her age.

Okay, the entrance to the castle was cool even though it's not as I imagined it.

Calcifer! He looks too nice.

Dude! That's Michael??? He's way young. Oh wait, his name is Markl. Whatever.

Dude. Seriously. What did they do to Calcifer?! Too much whine and not enough plotting.

Well, she's certainly got spunk now. So far, she's the only one in character. Hard to say about Howl.

"You almost killed my friend. Be more careful next time." Yeah, see, that would work a lot better if he wasn't smiling.

*blinks at Calcifer* Stop it, already. This Calcifer makes me cry. So so wrong.

Oh, look, someone left the cinema to go to the bathroom! Goodbye, someone!

They're revealing stuff too fast. They should leave more for the ending.

Ooooooo. He sees through the curse that well, huh?

Hey look! Someone came back from the bathroom! Welcome back!

BOOM!

*Finally* he lost his temper! *Now* I recognize Howl.

Dude! That's a lot of Howl on show.

Whoooooa, cool! Sliiiiiime.

Awww, Scarecrow. He's so cute.

Haha! Nekkid!Howl! Bet she looked.

I like Howl's room.

Haha! Dog! Too cute! But it's prolly not Howl.

Hehe. The witch has to walk too.

Dude, that's a heavy dog.

The witch isn't very scary.

Did they lose the storyline with the sisters as well?

Hahaha! The Sorcerer's dog.

I wonder how much I'm missing in translation; these subtitles aren't very impressive.

Wow, that's a big plotchange.

"Howl's mother, you're in love with him, aren't you?" Hehehe.

Dude, this is totally like Final Fantasy.

HEE! The falling star!

She got to walk a lot less up and down the stairs than in the book.

Awww! The castle is happy to see them!

The witch sleeping in the castle........ She's supposed to be the number 1 baddie, isn't she?

Howl turned into a birdie!

Such a cliché. *sigh* She's not supposed to know she loves him yet! A dream, but still.

Wow, that is one bad laugh. I hope Christian can laugh better than that.

Okay, moving the castle? VERY cool.

Sophie: I'm familiar with this room...but why?
Howl: I made it just for you (hint hint, nudge nudge, since you don't understand my other subtle hints that I've been trying to make that I recognize you).

I *love* the subtle shift in Sophie's age when she entered the room, though.

Whoa. That is one pretty backyard.

Ooooo. The view to short-circuiting the ship? Very Firefly.

"We probably haven't rubbed in the fact that she's in love with Howl yet. We should have another person point it out."

OMG. This is so cliché. What did they do to one of my fave books?! *weeps*

She broke the castle!

Oh, now Calcifer fixed it. That was easy enough.

Heh, okay, mini!Castle.

This is really bad. *disappointed*

Okay, Sophie isn't cool anymore. Someone please smack her.

I can't even comment anymore. I didn't think it was possible to ruin a book to such a degree.

Wow. What a letdown.

Um, yeah. Unless the English version is significally different? Just read the book instead. Coz that? Kinda sucked.

They took everything original from the story and turned it into a cliché. I didn't recognize any of the characters, except Sophie, and that was just when she was a grumpy old lady.

The prince storyline was just waaaaaay in the background. So was figuring out Howl's and Calcifer's secret. And the sisters' storyline? What happened to that? And being able to talk things into doing stuff? And Howl being more of a reluctant hero? And Sophie not trusting him the moment he shows his face? And...I could go on forever.

Man, I can't remember the last time a movie left me this disappointed. Don't think any movie ever has.
