Third year is over and done with and I am free for summer. Until September rolls around I have the fun time of lazing about in what little sun Scotland has to offer.
Well Ok that's a lie. Most of my time will probably be spent working trying to recoup the earth shattering debt I build up through term but at least I'm getting paid. I mean it's nothing great but it's money.
Also got a second job now as well. That's right Juggling is finally paying off and we are actually getting bookings for shows and workshops. It's awesome, I actually get paid to do something I enjoy. Who would have thought that would ever happen.
Aside from that other things that are coming up.
1. Florida: Family are taking a family holiday, probably the last one, to Florida in July. AJ is joining us for a couple of days so him and I are gonna hit up couple of things that my family just won't attent (Read: TNA!)
2. Hungary: I am heading to Hungary with my good friends Reka, Jamie and Alice. We will be spending a week their for the Sziget Festival which should be fun as Reka's family lives near by so it means I get all the fun of a festival without the need of camping. Which is all good in my books.
Aside from that I will be having to move flats. That's right after two years of living in one of the cheapest and best flats with one of my best friends I am having to move due to the fact his sister is coming to University and seeing as his parents own the flat... Kinda don't have a choice in that one.
Regardless I have an awesome flat not to far away from where I am just now. I get a bigger room, better kitchen, better living room and a bigger rent as well. Which means I can't afford to spend money on pointless crap as much next year and I spend a lot of money on pointless crap.
In other news (for those of you who aren't friends on facebook) I have a new partner. Max. Equal with me on the narcissism but equally as well intentioned as well. Little bit hyper but in a comical way. Hasn't been the best start to a relationship ever (Sickness followed by field trips has meant we have spent very little time together)
Review
Bad Lietenant: Port of Call New Orleans
I liked this film. I don't know why I liked it but I did. Nicholas Cage is fantastic in and the entire movie, which may be a little bit odd for some people, is very well shot, paced and actually pretty funny in parts.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I feel I should explain something first. I fucking love Steig Larsons Millenium Trilogy. LOVE! Now with that in mind I feel like there is some stuff I have to explain about how I operate when it comes to mediums of telling a story.
If an item exists in a media for example a book or a video game before it is translated into a movie or what not I will seperate the two. I will let the two stand on their own feet. I will not be drawn into the whole "It sucks because the book is so much better" garbage argument. I judge it on its own merrit.
Having said that even without that this movie rocks. It is brilliantly shot Noomi Rapace does a brilliant job portraying Salander and Michael Nyqvist, who is apparantly a big actor in sweeden, does a brilliant take on Mikael Blonkvist, a thinly veiled womanizing version of Steig.
Niels Arden Oplev does a brilliant job directing the film and it is well pieced together.
Yes there are bits missing from the book and the plot is a little bit shifted around but it works. The bits missing are missing for a reason either because they were not necesserily needed or because the protrayal wouldn't work on the big screen.
One last thing before I get off this. Peter Andersson, I don't think they could have found anyone creepier for Advocat Bjurman
Prince of Persia
Taking into account what I said above this also not only stands on its own but also stands as possibly with first good video game movie adaption.
That's not to say I don't enjoy Hitman and Resident Evil. I do. However, they weren't good adaptions of the game.
Prince of Persia is. Gyllenhal is great as the prince (Even though I still say it was actually CM Punk) Ben Kingsly is great as Nizam and overall the movie is just good.
That's not to say its great its a pretty average film by itself but the fact it actually works with the begining media is more important I feel.
Death at a Funeral
American remake of a British Black Comedy. It doesn't seem that they didn't understand that "black" was just a style.
Yes that was bad.
Anyway its a good film. I havn't seen the original so can't comment on that but meh. I enjoyed it, it had it's funny bits. It's nice to see Ron Glass, Danny Lover and Keith David.
How to train your dragon
A Fun film. Don't think its just a kid film. It is however, very sappy, very funny and just a good way to spend an hour and a half.
Done.
