"But he doesn't tour, so..."

Despite Dan being really sick last Friday (11/21), we dragged ourselves down to Ottobar to see mc chris' show. I've seen mc chris perform there at least three other times and I love the man to death. He is funny as hell, dynamic, creative, his comedy is topical and nerdy, and he's big into audience participation, which makes for an awesome, fun show. I'm really REALLY glad we went on Friday because toward the end of the show, he announced that he wasn't going to be touring anymore! He'd been on the West Coast pitching a cartoon and it looked like they were going to pick it up. Also, he has a special lady friend now (oooo~!) and is settling down a little. So AWESOME! But also a little sad, because I probably will never see him perform live again.

I used to chuckle at a particular set of his lyrics ("mc chris ownz / I wanna go to an mc chris show / but he doesn't tour so in the meantime / I'm gonna memorize all of his rhymes") because the dude seemed to tour NONSTOP. Srsly, he was in Baltimore at least two or three times per year, usually at Ottobar, sometimes at Recher. When I move away from this area, mc chris will be a very fond Baltimore-based memory for me to carry.

In other news, got myself an early Xmas present. A LAPPY! My very own sexy lappy! To be specific, a Samsung R610-64G. Core2Duo, 16" display, 250gig HDD, with a pretty nice GeForce 9200M video card. It's definitely a little beefier than I needed, in terms of both physical dimension and computing power. But it was $200 off, and I like it so far. Except for the Vista part. I'd never actually used Vista before and... wow, it REALLY sucks. I can't get Lappy onto the internet at the moment (and I'm too busy with Nano to really work on it) and I'm 90% sure it's because of a Vista issue. But I can play Sims2 on it without a hitch, so... meh! I had to buy it for myself, since my parents are computer-ly challenged, but they'll pay me back and I'll... re-wrap the empty box for Xmas or something. UNF! Love my lappy!

I bought the lappy to facilitate me finishing up Nano this year, and so far it's working a treat. I'm def. winning Nano this year. I'm kicking its ass. I'm over 40,000 words now and I have plenty of chattering to do before it's done. I actually think that once I've spewed out a rough draft, I might go to the trouble of editing this one. I really do rather like it.

Oh! And we're aiming to Japan again in a year or so. This November is kind of awesome!
