The results of the eye tests

Well they shined a bunch of lights in my eyes and had me read a billion charts but it turned out the simplest answer was the best one.  Occam's Razor, you win this round!

My glasses had recently become tweaked from me hitting my head which resulted in the gash on my forehead that you may have heard me tweet about a few times.  I didn't notice it in day to day wear because if you're at all aware of how I move, you know I cock my head when I look at things.  EVERYTHING.  My head is practically sideways as I type this.  So while I'm doing my daily whatevers, there didn't appear to be anything wrong with my glasses.

Until I went driving that is.  Then my head is facing forwards and sitting upright, so my tweaked glasses started to show just how off they really were.  Day to day tasks had me focusing on what was directly in front of me, so it wasn't an issue too much if my vision was flat, but put me out on the road and it suddenly becomes extremely noticeable how bad my depth perception was.

Normally tweaked glasses wouldn't be an issue because you're still looking out of the lens, but last time I went to the doctor it was discovered I had an astigmatism in one eye (which if you didn't know means the nerves in the back of my eye don't line up correctly with where the light from my lenses hit, so I have to have a specially shaped glasses lens to focus it into the right place).  So one of my eyes needs this special shaped lens to see properly, and with my glasses tweaked the light wasn't coming in the right way so everything on that side was rendered blurry and useless.  And if only one eye is working properly, what do you end up with?

A loss of depth perception!  So they fixed my glasses for no charge and I'm back to seeing just fine :)  Tomorrow I get to go back to the dentist to have a filling done because this is apparently just my week for that sort of thing.  But at least I can see now, so that's all that matters!
