I feel like it's 11:00, but it's really only 7:45 here in FM.
I have a routine of checking my computer stuff every morning. Yesterday morning I got an e-mail from
teachers-teachers.com, a website that hooks teachers up with teaching jobs around the nation and also some around the world. They said "Hey, you lazy bum, come look at these new job opening and apply for them!" So I did. One of them asked me to fill out ANOTHER application for the county, which I did. As I was finishing this (I've gotten to where it takes less than 45 minutes to fill out one of these including past experience and references) I received a phone call from the principal of North Broward Academy of Excellence. They had a Kindergarten position open. He asked if I'd interview and I said "I'm free tomorrow!!"
This morning we got up and drove the 2+ hours from FM to North Fort Lauderdale. The school was relatively new (one building was finished this year) and the principal was really nice. He showed me to the Kindergarten hall and we looked in on the team leader for K who later used her lunch time to come ask me questions.
Now, when you interview, they invariably use the phrase "Do you have any questions you'd like to ask me about __________?" I was able to ask the team leader "What do you do during your 90 minute reading block?" It was quite clever of me, considering the fact that my ADHD was through the roof and I wanted to ask her how she could stand baked cheetos.
I knew he liked me. He said nice things about me to the team leader. While I was there.
I was offered the job. I accepted. I start on Wednesday morning. Woot.
Because now we've got about $200 in our bank account to move across the state (only latitudinally this time tho) and only 6 days to do it in.
I told my manager at Panera. She was genuinely happy for me and said "Good for you" with a kind smile. Babbette is not known for kind smiles. Tomorrow is my last shift (11-2).
We've got 4 places we're looking into to see about renting lofts or 1 bed apartments. The lowest is $495 but I'm unsure of what it comes with. The highest in our range is $900. I know my mother-in-law is going to chip in with $500 to help pay for utilities deposits and some of the safety deposit. I just hope we don't have to pay first and last month's rent. DX
So that's why I'm tired.
TL;DR? I got a job today. I gave notice to a job today. We're moving across the state in 6 days. Short notice, huh?
