Catching up...
I've got two lessons left for my FOR-PD online class so I can be caught up by Saturday. I keep finding people I know on Facebook and saying "Wow, since when does (s)he have a Facebook?" If you know me and have one you should just let the cat out of the bag now.
I'm going to be working on my third writing assignment for children's lit. Of course it will be FO posted right here on the eljay for my adoring fans, er, friends. XD
Looking into some fun things tomorrow: spending time with my Grandma Lila, buying Sharpies to break, and catching a Miracle game all sound like part of a great day. Of course, I'll still have to work on my FOR-PD lesson 8 so I'll only have one lesson per day.
I just read an awesome book: The Blue Ghost by Marion Duane Bauer. It was a very short read, only 86 pages with very little text and many pictures. It could have come out in short story format for a magazine and as I read it my mind thought of the writing choices that the author made. This is the first time I've actually read a piece for pleasure and had "Wow, she uses great imagery here!" pop into my head. I'm not sure whether to be happy or displeased. It might just be because of the audience age being so close to my usual intended audience ("A Texan Lullabye" nonwithstanding).
As a matter of fact, I recommend many books. You can find them all
here at the Sunshins State Young Reader's Award website. They've been selecting quality children's literature for recognition for 20 years! O.O And they have lists of every book they've awarded on the site, some with summaries and even lesson plans/activities (nudge to teachers). Every book that they've recommended (and that I've read) has been well-written and appealing to children (if not necessarily to me, because everyone's taste is different). I'd love to have a book on this list one day. Cross your fingers for me! XD
