The other day, out of sheer boredom, I decided to read the stories of all of DHL's characters. Good gawd, they were awful! So many repeats of character traits; "will not hesitate to kill puppies" "will eat puppies" "can't swim" "good hunter" "can't fish" "can fish" "hates humans". UGH ( Read more... )

Comix discovered that DHL's issue with drawing dogs stems from the fact that she's actually trying to draw horses unconciously. It explains everything wrong with her drawings.

• Horses have lumpy eyes, explaining DHL's lumpy dog brows.
• Horses have ears that are fairly close to their eyes, explaining DHL's dogs that have ears right behind the eyes.

Decided to do a "design test" with some of DHL's designs.

The goal: test whether or not the designs hold under various different expressions
The hypothesis: if it takes more than a casual glance to identify character's facial features and emotional state, then the design is not sound.
