Okay. Thursday night I dreamt I beat the Elder Quest "Wyverns of Land and Sky."
Today I actually did it. I did it and I don't know if I can do it again.
It's you, your armor, your weapon, your items... a Silver Rathalos and a Gold Rathian (both firebreathing, both nasty as hell, and with new and improved attack behaviors and different vulnerabilities than their bretheren) ... in an Arena with no exit (save a Farcaster and you can only carry one.)
They can fly. You can't. They breathe fire. You don't. Both of them are charging at you which means 90% of the time the game architecture believes you are running away in terror from one of them (which means your stamina bar drops at twice the normal rate.)
I beat that quest today.
Made an attempt before work officially started and failed, partially due to poor preparation.
During my break at work I loaded my game, attempted to prepare a little more, and (forgetting the Mega Juices I'd planned to bring) charged in.
Killed the Rathian with 35 minutes left in the quest and, the hard part now over, started to work on the Rathalos. Finished him off sometime before 8 p.m. which was only difficult in that he kept flying up into the air, doing his fireball or poison attack (missing me) then land... and fly straight up into the air again. Rinse and repeat over and over again. I had to hit his wings as he was landing, which was good when he flinched because he'd slam into the ground. But it was annoying and I missed more often than I'd like to admit. Still, he eventually switched out of that pattern for long enough that I'd be able to get some hits in and wing-lock him on occasion.

Armor: Garuga S Blademaster (Helm) - And yes, I used the bug to get it. Mea Culpa. (Note: One of these days I'm going to try to repel the damned thing just to prove to myself that I can.)

Notes: I'm terrible at flashbombing these things. Usually ended up having to use 2 flashbombs at a time instead of 1. Killed the Rathian first and the fight got a hell of a lot easier; ended up looting the first corpse when the Rathalos decided to take off and circle the arena for a while. Eventually it came down, annoyed me by flying up and then dropping and then repeating etc. and the rest is history.
Sometime within the next hour after killing the Rathalos (and thus after the emotional rollercoaster that took off when I saw the Los go down) my adrenaline started to finally drop off and I found myself crashing: headached and fatigued and still saying "wow" to myself quietly.
Unfortunately I need 1 Slvr Rathalos Scl and I don't have 1 Slvr Rathalos Scl. --' Oh well.
(To be honest I could use 1 more Wyvern Marrow too; I would like to make the Gradios Ultimus and still have enough left over for the Shining Wyvern Blade, and a total of 8 would do that for me.)
1 Slvr Rathalos Scl plus 95000z + the other stuff I already have = This
