site update and book rec

Okay, did a major site update for the Snk/AoT fic (like... sixteen chapters?). You can find more of Weight of Life (yeah, Levi/Eren fic, we've finally hit the 'not safe for work' chapters) here:

Uhm, doing my best to wrap this sucker up so I can get back to Shadows, I promise. This fic turned into a monster and getting the massive weekly updates up is sucking up the time. But it's also gotten me back into writing on an almost daily front, so... go fic? Yay?

Now onto the fic/book rec. I usually read when working out or traveling (when not trying to keep up on the anime or shows), and these two books had me *riveted*. Good news? They're so darn cheap on Amazon (first is free, second is less than a buck). Also, the third part of the trilogy is out in two weeks (12.2.14 according to the author's blog). Which makes me so incredibly happy because I've been stalking said blog ever since finishing the second book. Has lots of positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads - I give you a word of warning, they're not the fluffiest books out there. The premise is that Neil, the main protagonist, is given a scholarship at college for the sport Exy (think lacrosse meets hockey meets soccer, sorta), but he's running from a very disturbing past. Except that past is catching up to him in some unexpected ways. He takes a chance to do something for himself for once, at least for a couple of months (trying not to give away too much of the plot), and joins a team that is known more for the fact that its coach recruits its players for their hard luck stories than the fact that they win. And things just... snowball from there. You have some wonderful (and wonderfully broken) characters in this story, a plot that moves through the first two books and should be resolved in the third, and yeah, it deals with different kinds of abuse (especially in the second book) so if that's a trigger for you... you might want to skip. But if you can deal with it, I think you'll be just as hooked by Neil and Andrew and the rest as I was. It's not blatant M/M, but you can see it developing as the story goes on (though I doubt it'll ever be too explicit, which isn't a negative).
