Jim and I did more yard work today. I took out something like twenty saplings within a very small space in the garden. That should give the roses more room to breathe and grow. I also finished de-sodding the spot in front where the tomatoes are now planted. I was given four more plants so I had to make room for them. They are a little wilted now, but that's expected and they should bounce back in the next few days. I also need to put the fencing up, but rain was threatening so we have yet to do that. Jim also took out two large trees that needed to go.

I continue to fight with the bittersweet and the Creeping Charley, which I also managed to beat back some. I guess that I care more about the stuff that gets into the gardens than I do about the stuff in the lawn. There has been a stump in the garden that it finally breaking down, so I'm going to see about removing more of it. The problem is that it is under a bush and so I don't think that I could actually get anything else in there. I also need to beat back the lily of the valley. I do like it, but it's gotten out of control here.

And yes, all of my rose bushes need some more attention as there is a lot of dead wood and the one that this user pic is from keeps trying to take over in the back yard. After it has bloomed I'll try to beat it back some more so that it doesn't take over.

The roses will start blooming this week and I'm very happy.
