The Testament of Freedom

So as most of you know, I am in the SPC chorus (among the load of other classes). Honestly you'll always have those party pooper people in an ensemble but for the most part we are a pretty decent chorus for what we are made of. approximatly 120 people, actually.
Anyway, we just finished our three concerts on the Testament of Freedom. I'll give you a little history on it :D
The Testament of Freedom is a chorus piece using the words of Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President (you can see why we did it now). The words were set to music in 1943 by Randall Thompson. It was definately one of those pieces that grow on you. I didn't really enjoy it at first but in the music world you can't really judge a piece by a few test runs to see how it sounds. (thats because you don't really understand the phrasing yet and etc) Anyway, I really liked the second and third movement of the piece. Oh and the "hereditary bondage" XD good stuff. and you know.... now that i bring that up i really liked that part of the second movement! through that part of the piece we were all in unison but we split into a minor chord to create the emphasis of those words without really raising our voices.
Thats what we call good writing :D

Alright back to topic, I couldn't help it though! I had to go into a geeky moment there, I like it.

We performed at Mahaffey theater, Ruth Eckard, and the TampaBay Performing Arts Center with the Tampa Bay Symphony. It was awesome. The strings were beautiful. That was the first time i've ever preformed on those stages. It was a real experience.
The first night when we were just about to begin our first piece on the Mahaffey stage, Dr.t got up to the poddium and the lighting created this kind of glow that said to me "this is the real thing."

although, perhaps this is the beginning of "the real thing" XD
