Title: A different kind of confession
Pairing: Kyumin
Genre: Fluff, Romance
Rating: PG
Summary: Sungmin's got a secret admirer.

Sungmin smiles, eyes crinkling around the edges, as he greets his classmates. It's just any other day in school and Sungmin isn't expecting it to be anything but. So when he settles himself down at his desk he is pleasantly surprised by the messy handwriting that has been scrawled onto the smooth surface of his table top in black marker.

I like you.

Sungmin has had his fair share of confessions but none had been this intriguing. He had grown accustomed to delicately wrapped pastries and neat handwriting sealed inside pastel pink envelopes and the giggly girls that came with them. Granted he had turned down every one of those confessions because, to put it bluntly, Lee Sungmin was gay. And it's no secret that he is, the abundance of pink items that he owned suggested enough, he believed that the female population in his school couldn't understand because of some stupid statement people came up with. Real men wear pink. He lets out an incredulous scoff as he reaches into his messenger bag and fishes out his bunny shaped pencil case, that statement was the root cause of Sungmin's current relationship status, or lack of.

It's pure curiosity that has Sungmin taking out his pink Sharpie and writing just below the former message.

Well, just so you know, I'm gay and I won't date you if you're not a hot guy.

Sungmin grins to himself, there's something about the way that his message contrasts with his admirer's that makes him feel like a giggly school girl, that despite them looking absolutely different, they seem to complement each other. It's a perfect balance. Sungmin thinks with a goofy smile playing on his lips, his attention is drawn away from his table top, however, when his teacher comes in and Sungmin loses himself in another mundane day in school.

When he arrives in school the next day, he finds himself holding back a squeal of delight, because sitting on his desk is a miniature stuff pink rabbit with a top hat. He puts the rabbit away after cooing and patting it for the longest time and that's when he notices the new message that has been scribbled onto his table top.

I-I'm a guy but I might not be the kind of hot guy that you have in mind... The stuffed toy's for you.. I got it because, well, it sort of reminded me of you...

Sungmin grins as he gets his own pink marker out as he scribbles a reply, his admirer seemed sweet and harmless enough.

Well then, why don't you tell me who you are so that I can be the judge of your hotness? Thank you for the bunny~ He's so cute~~

Sungmin arrives to school much earlier than usual, and he's walking to class with an extra bounce to his step. He doesn't admit it but he has developed a slight crush on his secret admirer. He goes straight to his desk and sure enough there's a reply written in messy black ink and a single pink rose waiting for him.

You like pink right? I hope this rose lights up your day. I'll... I'll confess to you soon, and I'm glad that you liked the stuffed toy.

Sungmin laughs, amused at how awkward his admirer sounds. He takes a sniff at his rose before placing it in his bag.

You are such a sweetheart, at this point I don't think I'd mind if you weren't a hot guy, you're sweeter than anyone has ever been to me. I'm curious, Mr Admirer, who are you?

For the rest of the day Sungmin's head's in the clouds and there's a giddy smile on his face as his fingers trace the little messages on his table. They're brief and a little awkward but they bring a certain sense of joy to Sungmin that he's never felt before and Sungmin is milking every second of it.

You're way out of my league if that's enough of a clue... But I really do like you Sungmin so when I do confess, I hope that you'd give me a chance.

Sungmin can't help but feel a little bad for the guy, he's already putting himself down and Sungmin just wishes that he wouldn't. He still manages to laugh though, because his mystery admirer had been so careful with his reply that he had cancelled out at least four of them before settling with the lastest, and Sungmin finds that amusing and sweet.

You're a sweet guy~ I don't need to give you a chance, coz I think you've already caught my attention. And I might sound a little weird and desperate but Mr Admirer, please confess soon.

The next day, Sungmin's table is free of the messy scrawlings in black ink and it remains that way for the rest of the week. Sungmin tries to block out the nagging pain in his heart, he tells himself that it's simply absurd that he feels that way for someone whose identity he doesn't even know, but his heart doesn't quite listen to what his head is telling it and he finds himself leaving school for the weekend with a depressed sigh.

Sungmin arrives to school the next week and he lacks the usual infectious smile on his face. This all changes, however, when he gets to his seat because the usual messy scrawlings are back and its contents leave Sungmin restless throughout the duration of his classes.

Hey, could you meet me under the large cherry blossom tree by the park today after school? I think I'm ready to reveal myself.

The moment the bell rings to signal the end of school, Sungmin's bolting out of the school gates and heading towards the direction of the nearby park. His heart is hammering against his chest and there's an adrenaline rush coursing through his veins, he doesn't know why he's so excited over meeting his secret admirer but he doesn't question it and just lets his feet carry him forward.

He's panting and sweaty when he reaches the park and he tries his best to make himself look at least decent. The minutes tick by and Sungmin's on his toes trying to keep a look out for anyone who could potentially be his secret admirer. The attempt is futile though, since the tree is located at an obscure part of the park. The sudden sound of someone clearing their throat captures Sungmin's attention and he whips his head around only to find that no one was within his vicinity. He's a little creeped out but he garners all the bravery in him and walks towards the direction where the sound came from. He rounds the tree trunk and on the other side he sees a tall lanky guy with a bouquet of pink roses in his hand and he's got a piece of paper clutched tightly in his other hand, said paper blocks his face from Sungmin and by the looks of it he's far too focused on what's written on the paper to notice Sungmin.

"S-Sungmin hyung, no. Umm. Sungmin-sunbaenim? Aish... That just sounds weird... Ah, Sungmin hyung, it would be an honour to bring you out on a da- Shit. I have to introduce myself first. Ok. Sungmin hyung, I am Cho Kyuhyun and I am a sophomore and I am in your Math class. Shit. That sounds unnatural. Shit he's not gonna go out with someone like me."

Sungmin lets out a giggle and Kyuhyun's head snaps up and he looks nothing short of a deer caught in head lights, a good looking deer caught in head lights. Kyuhyun's face is paper white and it turns a deep shade of red so quickly that Sungmin would have missed it if he blinked.

"You are so cute!" Sungmin all but coos as he makes his way closer to Kyuhyun, reaching up to pat his head and feel the fluffy texture of Kyuhyun's hair. Sungmin's lips are stretched in a wide grin and the amusement he got from watching Kyuhyun rehearse his lines are shinning in his eyes. He feels bad for Kyuhyun though, because he hasn't seemed to have recovered from the shock, and Sungmin decides to cut the poor guy some slack and he stands on his tippy toes and leans forward to place a light kiss on Kyuhyun's cheek.

"Of course I'll go out with you, I've said so before haven't I? Silly Kyu~" Sungmin whispers into Kyuhyun's ear, amusement increasing when he felt the heat radiating from Kyuhyun's cheek.

Kyuhyun breaks out from his stunned reverie and looks at Sungmin with wide eyes, disbelief written all over his face. "Really, hyung?"

"Yes, silly!" Sungmin giggles, his laughter ringing through the wind. "Oh! And you can drop the formalities. And I will too! I'm gonna call you Kyunnie~~"

"H-here, hyung, I mean Sungmin. Umm, I got these flowers for you." Kyuhyun stutters and Sungmin has to restrain himself from cooing again. There's just something about Kyuhyun's awkwardness and shy behaviour that Sungmin finds weirdly attractive.

"Do you want to catch a movie with me, Sungmin?" The shy smile playing on Kyuhyun lips and the way his eyes shine with hope leaves no room for rejection, not that Sungmin was planning to in the first place, the eager nod he gives Kyuhyun causes his smile to grow impossibly wider.

The light wind rustles the branches of the cherry blossom tree and the petals fall gracefully to the ground, it's a pretty sight and Sungmin can't wish for a better setting for Kyuhyun to have confessed at. They leave the park hand in hand and despite the fact that they have just met, it's comfortable between the two of them. Sungmin knows that it might just be him acting on impulse but he thinks that this might just be what love feels like.
