A/N: For zaboomafoo76 because I would have abandoned this if it weren't for her.

Sungmin stands by the window, warm breath fogging up the glass, as he watches the raindrops paint themselves along the streets. He lets out a sigh, noting that the rain has no intention of stopping anytime soon. It's been raining for days now, and Sungmin longs for the warm caress of the sun rays on his skin again. It's the only way he has to remember him by, to remember Kyuhyun by.

Cho Kyuhyun was an eternal sunshine, and had a pocket full of snide remarks that he'd pull out whenever he deemed fit. Kyuhyun was socially awkward and often hid behind thick framed lenses and a book far too advanced for his age and Sungmin was nothing short of apathetic when he was assigned to sit next to him for the term.

However as the days passed, Sungmin had found himself growing more and more fond of Kyuhyun, noticing the little quirks and habits he had. Like how Kyuhyun tended to hum when he was taking notes, voice gentle and soothing or how he'd flush a deep red whenever Sungmin leaned his head against his shoulder. These attributes had always left Sungmin feeling warm and fuzzy inside and, without a doubt, Lee Sungmin knew that he was falling for him. So when Kyuhyun had pulled him aside after class one day, palms sweaty and eyes trained on his sneakers, asking Sungmin out for a cup of hot chocolate, Sungmin had giggled as he wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun's waist, nodding as his heart mirrored Kyuhyun's thundering heartbeat.

The days that followed were filled with shy glances and little pecks on cheeks. Sungmin remembers his first kiss with Kyuhyun, remembers how it felt- warm, gentle, loving. A fresh breath of sunshine. He remembers laying in bed with Kyuhyun, legs tangled as Kyuhyun held him close, remembers how Kyuhyun liked to run his fingers through his hair while planting random kisses along his neck. Kyuhyun always smelt like summer- warm and welcoming yet at the same time, holding that promise of excitement.

"I'm moving," as soon as those words left his lips, Sungmin swore he saw a flash of hurt and panic in Kyuhyun's eyes.

"Oh? To which neighbourhood? Are you expecting me to be the chivalrous boyfriend and help you move boxes?" Kyuhyun's chuckle was forced as he pulled his glasses off and wiped them on his shirt.

Sungmin felt a part of him die as he watched the light in Kyuhyun's eyes fade when he shook his head and said, "No, Dad's got a job in Tokyo. So the whole family's moving there. I'm moving there, Kyu."

"Tokyo, huh?" Kyuhyun let those words hang in the air, as if wishing that the wind could carry it away and erase the fact that Sungmin, his Sungmin, was going to leave him.

They were silent as they stood looking at the ground, both not knowing what to say and yet couldn't bear to leave, at least not yet, not now. Not so soon.

"I love you, and I always will Min."

There's a slight brush of lips against his and then Sungmin was watching Kyuhyun leave through blurry eyes.

That whisper of "I love you too," left behind to linger in the soft summer wind and what-ifs.

Sungmin laughs, soft and humourless, as he feels the pinch in his heart when he thinks of Kyuhyun. The rain continues to fall and Sungmin starts to count the number of coloured umbrellas decorating the street, hoping that maybe by waiting the rain out, it might bring him back to summer.

Back to love.

Back to Kyuhyun.
