Chapter 1

Chapter 2:

“Someone looks like he’s had a rough day.”

He gave a grunt of appreciation as a cup of coffee was placed in front of his face, “that doesn’t even come close to what I went through…” he paused and gave the waiter a confused stare, “I didn’t order anything yet.”

“I know, but you look like you need it. It’s good; trust me…unless you want our most expensive drink again…”

“No, this is fine…thanks…”

The young man gave a shrug, “it’s the least I can after you left that…generous tip last time.”

Not wanting to look like a nice guy or anything less of an idol in front of the other, he scoffed, “That’s just because you don’t seem to get a lot of customers during your shift, hope you’re not going this for a living.”

The other smiled and shook his head, “I’m stuck with the slowest shift, it’s the only one Junno would let me work, if it got any busier I wouldn’t be here.”

He raised a brow, “The slowest shift? I can only imagine how much you make a day…”

His comment caused the man to laugh, “Not everything revolves around money you know. Do you know how much I had to beg just to convince him to let me work? He’s so paranoid sometimes…that’s Junno over there behind the counter, he’s the owner. He’s the one that’s taking care of me during my stay here.”

Jin couldn’t decide which of the many questions he wanted to ask first so he settled for a confused, “Huh?”

“I’m only here for a couple months before I have to go…back. And Junno doesn’t really want me working too hard, actually, he doesn’t want me working at all, but oh well…too bad for him…”

“Kame-chan…”

The waiter looked over at his mentioned friend and gave a sheepish grin, “looks like I’m needed, see you later.”

-------------------------

So he sat there lost in his thoughts, for who knows how long, his grip on his coffee just as tight as ever. If the cup had been alive, it would’ve passed out already. There was a snicker behind him, “you’ve got to be the stiffest customer I’ve ever seen. You should learn to relax, you’re not a…an idol person here, you’re not going to get special treatment or anything. In this café, you’re human…as far as I’m concerned.”

He raised a brow at the waiter, “shouldn’t you be serving customers?”

The young man placed a hand at his hip, “all the customers are quite content, thank you.”

The two paused before blurting out, “There’s something I want to ask you…”

Jin gave a soft laugh, “you first.”

The waiter nodded, “You’re an ‘idol’ right? Why…are you here? I mean, shouldn’t you be out there being all glamorous and famous? And shouldn’t you be surrounded by people? Why are you here, alone? Do you not have friends or something?”

He blinked at the bluntness of the questions, “okay, first of all, yes I’m an idol, need I remind you of the magazine cover? And I’m here because I like coffee, you might not know it, but being well-known is stressful. I have random girls setting up cameras around my house.”

The other made a face, “that’s…”

“Yea, I know, and I’m always surrounded by people, right now, I’m being surrounded by you-” he grabbed the other by the sleeve as he turned away, “don’t you dare leave while I’m still talking. I don’t always want to be around people, which is another reason why I’m here. And finally, I’m not some anti-social person alright? I have friends, best friends. I’m just ignoring them right now.”

“…what? Why would you ignore them?”

“Because one of them was sabotaging my outfit and the other took his side instead of mine-why am I telling you all this anyways?”

The other shrugged, “because I’m just that likable?” When he received a weary glare from the other he held his hands up defensively, “I’m joking! Anyways, I don’t know about you, but I don’t think they’d do something like that, not that I know who they are or anything but still.”

He really couldn’t believe that some stranger was taking their side instead of his, maybe the whole world decided to go against him. “And why wouldn’t they?”

“…they’re your friends aren’t they?” He sighed and straightened out his back a bit before continuing, “I mean, there must’ve been a reason for them doing whatever they did right? You seem to be someone whose stress gets the better of you, no offense, but I’m guessing you stormed out before they could say anything.”

Jin gaped at the other who was looking out the window instead of at him, “how did…?”

“You’re not very hard to read, I used to have a friend just like you,” he looked down and smiled at the seated man, “my advice to you would probably be to go and hear them out, it was probably just a misunderstanding, and if they really were screwing around with your stuff, then you probably want new friends.”

He stared hard at the other, in the background, the bell twinkled lightly, “and here’s my advice to you, serve your customers.” He paused, “and don’t sit on metal benches with shorts on.”

“Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind,” Kazuya laughed as he made his way towards the newest customer.

----------------------------

The next day, he had a speech mentally prepared as he walked into the lounge where the other two were.

“Alright you two…explain.” That wasn’t the speech he had thought up, but it was equally effective. When he received silence and baffled looks from the other two, he frowned, “explain before I assume you’re guilty and never talk to you again.”

Realization glimmered in their eyes, Yamapi raised a brow, “you’re still mad about that!? That was like a week ago!”

“Still waiting for an explanation.”

He didn’t spare a glance at Ryo, he knew the two too well, he knew for a fact that Yamapi was the one who was going to do the explaining. The youngest of the three sighed, “Okay. Here’s what happened, Ryo-chan was looking for his CD that he left in your change room, and while he was there, he noticed that one of the buttons on your costume was ripping off. So he was going to get someone to fix it for you. Then you walked in, then I walked in, then you walked out.”

Jin looked over to Ryo for affirmation, “is it true? You were trying to do a good deed?”

The shorter man’s face reddened slightly, “S-shut up!”

Yamapi smiled, “see? Did you really think that Ryo-chan would have it in him to go and sabotage your costume?”

He sighed, feeling more than a little stupid, “yea…I should’ve noticed when it was Ryo-chan doing the sabotaging…”

“Oi! What the hell’s that supposed to mean!?”

The youngest grinned and cooed at the shorter man, “Ryo-chan’s too soft to do something like that!”

Jin laughed and decided to join his friend, “Ryo-chan’s so cute.”

“He’s such a good person, so adorable.”

“Especially when he tries to do good deeds.”

“I love you Ryo-chan.”

“I love you too…just not as much as Pi does and not in that way.”

“Shut up already! How are you going to make it up to me anyways?”

He blinked, “Make it up to you…? Uhh…didn’t think of that…alright, I’m going to admit that I made a mistake, and I’m going to apologize like a man…by inconspicuously distracting you guys from the fact that I made a mistake in the first place.”

The two looked at him curiously, already distracted, “how are you going to do that?”

There was a pause before he abruptly pointed in a random direction, “Look over there!”

The two turned their heads only to stare at a rather blank wall, “what…?”

“Nothing!”

Ryo frowned, “that was so dumb…” he didn’t notice how the dumbness of it all made him forget about the incident at hand. “I’m leaving before it affects me.”

Yamapi laughed after the other left the room, “I can’t believe that worked! But really, what made you change your mind and actually listen for once?”

He shrugged, “Kamenashi Kazuya.”

“Who? Wait-don’t tell me you replaced me already!”

“Calm down Pi, he’s just a waiter at this café I found.”

“Sounds suspicious to me…”

Jin raised a brow, “and I’m going to distract you from those thoughts.”

His friend watched him in amusement, “How do you plan to do that?”

He opened the door and pointed outside, “Quick!”

Pi walked over and looked around to see an empty hallway, “What?”

“Over there!”

His friend raised a brow and looked down towards where his friend was pointing, “I don’t see anything…what are you pointing at?”

“Nothing!” He ran down the opposite direction, laughing, and a hysterical grin on his face. “I’ll see you tomorrow!”

Yamapi gaped, “Holy crap I can’t believe I fell for that-Jin! Get back here!”

----------------------------

When he walked into the café he could hear the three waiters’ voices, “Kame-chan, go home and rest.”

“I’m fine though!”

“I can take over your shift, or I can get Ueda to come in.”

“But Koki…I don’t want to!”

“Kame-chan…”

“I’ll take tomorrow off if it’ll make you two happy alright?” he looked over and pointed at Jin, “Look, a customer!”

The two averted their attention from the younger man momentarily to him and gave a smile, “welcome.”

He nodded and took his usual seat and gave his order to the one called Koki, listening as the owner continued talking to the young man. “I’m really fine! And I already said that I’ll take tomorrow off, isn’t that good enough?”

“I don’t want you working too hard…”

“I stand around and bring people their coffee, how’s that ‘working hard’? Anyways, you already gave me the slowest shift possible. Please let me work today, please? I mean I’m here already and all that.”

The owner gave a sigh and gave into the other’s pout, it was the first time Jin saw him without a happy smile on his face, “fine, but you’re not coming tomorrow. If you do, I’m firing you.”

The waiter gave a happy grin, “thanks Junno, I’ll do absolutely nothing tomorrow! I’ll just sit on the couch and stare at the TV or something for the whole day.”

“You better…”

It wasn’t often he heard people begging to work and others begging him not to. What a messed up café this was. But then again, they seemed pretty close so he had no right to say anything, not really. “Here’s your coffee, it’s on the house.”

“Thanks…” he muttered, breathing in the scent of his freshly brewed caffeinated drink, then he blinked, “Wait, on the house again? Why?”

Koki gave a shrug, “Because with the tips you leave, we end up with enough money to treat all our customers.”

He blew the steam off his drink with an “Hn, you’re welcome.”

-------------------------

A bit later, the other waiter stood beside his table. There was a moment of silence between the two before Kazuya decided to speak. “Sorry, did you hear all that?”

“Yea I did, what happened?”

The waiter gave a laugh and shook his head, “it’s nothing, just coming down with something, and they’re overreacting.” He gave a nervous grin as he felt the other two drill wary stares through the back of his head.

“If you’re sick then you shouldn’t be working, that’s unhygienic.”

“Do I look sick?” He looked up and studied the younger man, he looked a bit pale but other than that, he looked the same. Before he could answer, the other decided to change the topic, “so how’d it go with your friends?” He must’ve looked confused because the waiter grinned, “you’re not hard to read, you look happy today.”

“Well, we’re friends again. I guess I should thank you for that.”

Kame shot him a warm smile, “anytime. It’s nice to see you in a less depressing state.”

“Is that so…” he took a sip of his drink before remembering, “I forgot to ask you last time, the first time you saw me, who’d you mistake me for?”

The waiter blinked before looking up wistfully, “oh…it was just someone that saved me a long time ago…”

----------------------------

Later, Jin lay on his bed and stared at the ceiling, “It’s really not me hm? Damn. It couldn’t have been me, I’ve never saved him before…I only met him a week ago…wait, why do I care?” He sat up and stared at his full length mirror that had been propped against the wall. “I’m not obsessing. No I’m not. I’m not, right? Right. Good.”

With himself convinced, he lay back down and went to sleep.

----------------------------

The next day, Jin was walking down the street when he walked past a card shop and decided to go inside. Before he knew it, he was back out on the street with a card in his hand; he looked down and blinked, “when did I get this?”

Shrugging it off, he headed to the café and sat in his usual seat, except this time, the talkative waiter was nowhere in sight. Instead, he was served by the one called Koki.

While waiting for his coffee, he took out the card and a pen and scribbled messily in it, feeling more than slightly embarrassed. When the waiter returned with his drink, sheepishly, he looked up, fighting the heat that was moving up towards his face, “uh…do you think you can give this to Kamenashi…please?”

Koki blinked before accepting the card with a bemused smile, “will do, he’ll be happy to get a card.”

He returned a weak smile and nodded, maybe writing ‘Hurry up and get better soon so you can bring me my coffee!’ wasn’t that great of an idea after all…

----------------------------

The next few days, there still wasn’t any sign of the waiter. Jin couldn’t help but to wonder if the other had died or if he’d quit because of the card he received, or if he had went back to wherever he came from.

He couldn’t decide which alternative was worse.

Pi looked over from the mirror where he was straightening his hair, “so Jin, when do we get to meet this mysterious Kamenashi person?”

Looking over, he shrugged, “one day.”

His friend pouted, “But when?”

“Well first I have to tell Ryo-chan, I have no idea how he’s going to react to this, or we can just drag him along when that day comes, whichever. Then when we get there, if he’s not working then that’s just too bad for you. But first, Ryo-chan-”

Then Ryo walked in, talking to no one in particular, “what? Jin’s getting dumber? And what? Jin’s found an attractive waiter that he’s been secretly lusting after? And we get to go meet him? I think that’s just wonderful!”

Yamapi laughed while Jin gaped, “how’d you-”

The younger man grinned that grin of his where he bit on his lower lip and looked over at them, “These walls aren’t soundproof Jin.”

He flapped his arms frantically a bit, “did anyone else hear me!?”

“No…unless they were standing right next to me by the door…and unless I’ve gone blind, there was no one there.”

Sighing in relief, he relaxed a bit, “good…”

The youngest pursed his lips, “So? When do we get to meet this attractive waiter you’ve been secretly lusting after?”

Face burning, he yelled, “I’m not secretly lusting after him!”

Suddenly Tackey popped his head in the room with a baffled yet amused look on his face, “Who is Akanishi secretly lusting after?”

Yamapi looked over at their senior with a smile, “this mysteriously attractive waiter we have yet to meet.”

The elder smirked coyly, “Oh really, a mysteriously attractive waiter hm?”

Jin gave an embarrassed shriek and flew out of the room.

----------------------------

He was standing there again, his old neighborhood. That nameless little boy in front of him once more, he heard himself speak excitedly, “ne, I have something really special!”

“What is it?”

“It’s really special, and I want you to keep it safe for me! Can you?”

The other paused hesitantly, “what is it though?”

“Something really, really special!”

“The last time you said it was something really special…”

He shook his head, “it’s not another bug, I promise! So can you keep it safe for me?”

The boy finally gave in and nodded, “fine, what do you need me to keep for you?”

Shock surged through him as he watched himself lean forward, pecking the other lightly on the lips, “that was my first kiss! You’ll keep it safe for me, right?”

----------------------------

Jin woke up, eyes wide and full of shock. “Oh my god, who has my first kiss!?”
