Chapter 2
Kame walked inside his new room to organize it. He took a deep breath and then breathed out a loud sigh. After he closed the door, he paused for a moment then afterwards he finally observed the entire room. It’s been a while since the last time he entered here. There are lot of soots and dusts all around the place, and cobwebs on the ceiling. He stared at his things and now realized he got a lot of things which he doesn’t know if all of it were useful to him, “How am I supposed to clean this room...” he said to himself.
He was too busy cleaning his new room when he realized what the time it is. He looked at his wristwatch, his eyes had opened wide, “wuaah! It’s 7:00pm already! I didn’t prepare the food yet! Shimatta!!” He put down the things he was holding and rushed outside to the kitchen. After his mother died a month ago, Kame was the one preparing the food for him and for his father. When he got to the kitchen, he never troubled himself to put the apron and started cooking some food as fast as he can.
There, the dining table are set. He placed two plates on the table along with the food he just cooked. After everything is set he called for his father.
The least he expected is to see their new boarder dining with them; obviously the two plates on the table are for himself and for his father. So what the hell was Akanishi Jin doing at their dining room?
“What are you doing here?” finally Kame asked staring at the brown haired boy. The taller boy looked at him and with his girl uniform. Well, obviously he forgot that he was still wearing his uniform and he forgot to change since he was too occupied from the thought of cleaning his new room. And for the first time from the very long duration of disguising himself to herself, he felt that ‘oh-yeah-i’m-a-boy-and-i’m-wearing-a-girl-uniform-so-i-gotta-be-careful’ from the look of this Akanishi Jin.
“Anou... Kame, I forgot to tell you but Akanishi kun here will be eating with us from now on. That is what we agreed on.” His father said, got his attention from his thought. “Let’s just eat. Ne?” He looked at his father questionably, Sigh...he still recalls the argument with his dad a while ago and he remembered he is still repentant from what he acted back then. So, if this food included from the payment, then let it be. He considered.
They started eating but Kame can’t help to look up to Akanishi Jin under his eyelids. He saw the new guy making a face, apparently he wasn’t satisfied from what he’s eating.
“Is this what you always eat?” the new boarder asked, grimaced. There you go; Kame was indeed right from what he suspected the brown haired boy thinking just now.
Kame raised his eyebrow staring at Akanishi, “What? Any problem with that? Don’t you eat simple food like that?” assuming that Akanishi came from some wealthy family who doesn’t appreciate the common food. Maybe he’s also right this time realizing that Akanishi afford to pay his rent for the, what? whole year, that is twelve months away and he was already paid for it and also, he presume, he gave additional payment for the food and that is ‘for the whole year’ too.
“There’s no problem with simple food, but food like this, I guess the one who made this can’t even cook simple food.” The brown haired boy said staring back at the girl who he assumed cooked the food.
Kame looked at her father with the look of complaining.
“A-ha-ha! Never mind that. You see, I can’t cook. Okasan just past away and Kame here just started learning the cooking.” Mr. Kamenashi explained trying to get everything restrained from having a war which apparently getting started.
His father was wrong. He never intend to learn some cooking even though he think he is supposed to and besides that, he thought that that is the only pride he could have being a, well, boy. He thought if he too studies the cooking, he will be more like a girl and not just pretending to be one.
On the other hand, Akanishi kun never answered back after what Kame’s father said. He’s not that bad, he shows some respect to the elders after all.
Another day.
Kame used to go to school as early in the morning. He doesn’t want to be seen nor walk to school with the rest of the student. At least as early as possible, the fewer the student is. But today, he doesn’t feel like going that early. At first, he never planned to change his setting but after he opened the door of his room he saw the brown haired boy making his way back to his room. Kame’s former room that is. The taller boy was only clad in a towel and his hair was still wet from his shower. That’s why he got a second thought. He doesn’t really like the guy, and the idea of going to school together-even though not literally together-he simply hates it.
When finally Kamenashi entered their classroom he assumed all of his classmates were already there. The feeling is new to him. He was never been late. Well, their teacher isn’t around yet but then he always been the first one to arrived.
“Look minna! It’s Kame chan! Never knew she can be late some time.” Minami yelled, adopted a tone of annoyance. “Demo Daijoubu. You’re still early for our class.” He can feel the stare of his entire classmates. He really hated it. Practically, they never give him much attention whenever he arrive the school before all of his classmates and that’s what he mostly preferred. Kame didn’t pay attention to Minami and just went straight to his seat while Akanishi kun never bothers to greet him or even looked at him. How annoying. As if they never knew each other.
While Hyde sensei wasn’t arrived yet, Kame’s just observing the Akanishi-fanatics on how they look pathetic to show off to the brown haired boy just to get his attention but, looking at him, he cares nothing at all. The handsome student was busy reading his book. Well, the boy in the girl uniform guessed whoever sensei were around, Akanishi-fanatics doesn’t care much. Their little chit-chat apparently has no ending after all. And it didn’t end with that, you’ll see them passing a piece of paper here and everywhere until the bell rings, indication that the end of the class comes. They apparently don’t care about studying at all.
Akanishi is already set and ready to go home when Minami chan clutched into his arm. He stopped and stared at the girl who suddenly approached him.
“Wait. Let’s go home together today ne.” She smiled.
Akanishi was a little surprised from the sudden attack of Minami. She’s really getting into my nerves. He thought. But still he remains as cool as ever. “Move fast.” Akanishi abruptly said.
Yatta!! Minami was so shocked but really glad. She almost jumps from joy. She can’t believe she’s actually going home with his all-mighty-crush. But she was actually been frozen gazing at the brown haired bishounen for some time, But wait, he isn’t looking at her but on a different direction! She looked at where his mighty-crush was staring at. It was Kame-chan! What is going on?! She throws a puzzled stare at the short black haired girl whose busy packing her things and very clueless of what is going on.
“Kame chan~, I said hurry.” The taller boy once again said mentioning the name he was pertaining to.
“Eh?” asked Kame staring at taller boy who just mentioned his name, with a clueless look. Just like Kamenashi, Minami looks at Akanishi with a puzzled expression.
Without a warning Akanishi pulled Kame’s arm and left the room with him.
The scene surprised not only Minami, not only the Akanishi-fanatics, but all of their classmates who suddenly stopped from what they are doing. They never said anything for about 16 seconds there.
“Ch-Chotto matte!” Kame protested but Akanishi doesn’t seem to care for what the short black haired girl was saying. Now Kame gets it. It’s just a freakin’ show and he was included in the cast without knowing it. He’s really pissed right at the moment. But the taller boy is surely much powerful than him. When they get far enough, Akanishi let go his hand from Kame’s arm and about to move forward. But stopped from the sudden grab from his shoulder by the smaller boy, or girl for that’s what the taller boy knew he was. He looked back at the pissed girl behind him.
“-Next time, forget getting me involved on your pathetic shows.” Kame said, annoyed. But the taller boy just moved ahead, leaving him behind. “Chikushou!! I’ll hit that guy’s face one day!” he said angry. But then, he started following the path where the same direction of the brown haired bishounen went-hey, it’s not that he wanted to follow the cute boy-it’s just that he have to take the same course going home. They live at the same place, same house after all.
They got home at the same time. They haven’t spoken along the way home.
“Tadaima!” Kame said but the taller boy said nothing. Kame got in first. And he wanted to get inside his new room as soon as possible. What happened with his peaceful and yeah boring days? Two days ago, everything seems to be in his control, everything seems to be just passed smoothly like the day before two days ago like the day before that too...
“Hey!” The brown haired guy suddenly started a conversation and Kame need to turn his head to look at the boy who said something. “Just how did your mother died?” Akanishi asked out of the blue.
Kame batted a questioned look to the taller guy and said, “I guess that’s none of your business.” with a sarcastic tone. Well Akanishi didn’t bother to ask any more questions nor argue with him any further. He just walked passed him on the stairs towards his room while Kame still staring at the brown haired boy, somehow waiting for that boy to say something. The conversation stopped there. He again left behind. What the fuck is that? He becomes more upset. He was always left being the one who is pissed. “I really need to give him a fist some time!” He walked forward to his room and when he got inside it, he slammed the door shut. “What a weirdo. I don’t understand him. Just why did he come up with that question by the way? ...” bah! Never mind him anyway. He lay down on his bed, staring at the ceiling and think of something. He lost his room. He feels like he also lost his freedom in some way....
Kame didn’t notice he actually slept. He was still half asleep; it feels like he slept for a second there. He rubbed his eyes and looked at his watch, “Shimatta!! It’s 7:45 already! Not again...” he said and now he’s wide awake. Kame run hurriedly towards the kitchen, surprisingly he saw everything was set. There was the food on the top of table and pretty looks delicious too.
“Oh, good you’re awake. Let’s eat. I thought we’re gonna eat without you.” Kame’s father said when he saw him standing in front of the table, amazed by the food. Oh yeah, he can’t wait to grab some. They sat down, the brown haired guy is already with them and then they started eating. Finally, his father buys some decent food for their dinner tonight.
“Hmm!,” Kame widened his eyes as his mouth was full of food. “Umai! This is seriously delicious!” he mumbled happily.
His father tastes some too. Wondering what the taste of the food is after seeing the reaction of his son. “You’re surprisingly good at cooking Akanishi kun.” Kame heard his father said after tasting the delicious food in front of them. Kame choked from surprised but turned it into throat-clearing.
Akanishi looked at the black haired girl who was still wearing his uniform when he heard her choked. “Domo.” Akanishi replied to Kame’s dad when he finally realized that the girl was fine.
‘So that’s why he’s so picky concerning food. He even criticized my cooking because he was this good and to think he’s a guy. Damn!’ Kame thought and kind of agitated. He then had thought of one hell good of an idea. He looked at the boy who practically skilled at cooking, “I supposed it is much better if you’re the one to cook our food from now on so that you won’t be able to taste that simple food made by someone who can’t cook. Ne?” Kame grinned sarcastically. He just wished, this time he gets into the handsome boy’s nerve. He kind of wondering how this apparently good-headed-guy act when he is pissed.
His father cough dramatically, “What are you doing? Stop talk-”
“I will.” Akanishi kun cut him off without looking up to them.
Kame feels disappointed. He never gets mad?.... he thought, because the guy didn’t even show a little pissed sign...but then ‘that’s great!’ He can eat normal food from now on. Not just normal, the food is incredibly good. Yokatta na!
Back to where he supposed to set his mind to, “Do not dare to take back what you’ve said.” He told the brown haired boy afterwards.
They continue eating when out of the blue, the brown haired boy asked, “Why do you always want to wear that uniform?” pertaining to Kame, the one who was still wearing his girl uniform.
His father choked but drinks some water right away. Practically he sensed that he and his father felt anxious the same way. Does the new guy find out his true identity?... Does the new guy happened to see some stuff from his things which he wasn’t supposed to?... Does the new guy know he is not ‘she’ after all?... There are lots of question flashing into his head. He’s scared and he sure doesn’t feel this tense before. His heart was throbbing rapidly. What he should supposed to answer? He can’t seem to find the right words within his brain...
“You should change your clothes right after you got home, you know.” Akanishi suddenly continued.
Kame stared at the other boy. He feels his sweat running from his forehead. He hated the boy more than anyone else right now. He scared the hell out of him. “I forgot,” he finally answered back. “And thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.” He continues.
