Writewritewrite!!!

I just started thinking a lot when I was trying an failing to fall asleep. First I came up with this concept for a character, and then the story behind her began to grow, until I -had- to get up and start writing it down... o_O;

You know how that is, right?

Anyway... I'll share some of it with you, that is, if anyone actually takes the time to read this when they find my page...

First, some general descriptions of the characters mentioned in this...

Iske: tall, kind of thin/lithe if quite muscular, handsome, fair skinned, long dark violet hair, misty silver-grey eyes, and a seemingly perpetually sad smile on his almost pouty lips.

Suikoto: taller than Iske, tanned/dark of skin, spiky platinum blond locks, innocent appearing sky blue eyes; perfectly handsome -- high cheek bones, a straight nose, strong jaw, etc.

Aikana: short/diminutive, a little darker than Iske, large amber eyes that a man could drown in, waist length black hair worn in an odd braid; two small braids on the side, one medium sized braid in the center, all woven into one larger braid.

To be a -bit- more accurate on heights, Iske is about 6'3", Sui is pretty much exactly 6"7" and Aikana, I think she is almost 5'2".

Iske Zaishinoa...

This was once the name of a renowned monk.

But times change. People change.

Three months ago, the demon Suikoto Ganiroaku, a deceitful and truly evil creature, slew the "god" Ashaunvir, father of all dragon kind as we know it. In so doing, he passed the Great Wyrm's power into the remnants of his children. The last dragons. The Feis Drakke. Only, that wasn't his plan; he had meant to try and absorb that power into himself.

He was thwarted by the intervention of the man known as Iske Zaishinoa, the Twilight Monk. Details are sketchy of this encounter, but what is known is that Iske arrived too late to save Ashaunvir, but he stopped Suikoto by stabbing him with the forever sharper than a diamond spear-sword known as the Mourning Star for odd glow it exudes. The demon was not killed, but he was injured, and was forced to retreat.

A few days later, Iske Zaishinoa's life was reportedly taken by Suikoto in a battle waged on the grounds of the Temple to protect the secrets of the Final Age. Back to full health and once again evenly matched, Suikoto could not hope to defeat Iske unaided, and he knew this. But it was one instant he needed, to get past the monk's defense, and in that instant he could seal the mortal's fate.

As they fought back and forth across the courtyard, the demon at last smirked at his opponent, the promise of suffering worse than death dancing in his deceiving blue eyes. Before confronting Iske, the beast had taken the one person alive he knew could make Iske flinch. Aikana Matsuhiko... Iske's fiancé.

And so came the time to use his pawn, the tool with which he would end the Legacy of Twilight as it was currently known. Leaping away from the man, Suikoto bounded into the bows of the ancient oak sitting in the center of the garden courtyard. Supporting himself with the haft of his lance-like weapon, the magical blade continually letting of it's eerie silver-glow, his hands rested on the hilt and the tip of the never dulling blade dug into the paving stones.

As he caught his breathe, he heard one sound, and one sound alone... the quiet sobbing of a woman. As he looked up to see Suikoto hovering a short distance away, gripping Aikana by the back of the neck in one clawed hand, his heart stopped for but a moment. In that moment, the despicable beast gracelessly lifted his other hand and plunged it into the beautiful young woman's chest. Two screams parted the cool night air, both of pain, and a cruel laugh floated on the breeze. Removing the girl's still beating heart, the demon showed it to her, the last two beats before she died.

Iske stood stunned and breathless, one hand half lifting his weapon and the other reaching out toward the lifeless form of his beloved that was already falling from the demon's grip. Suikoto took no time in snatching up the opportunity before him and lunged. The tearing pain of the demon's claws brought Iske back to awareness as he was slashed across his chest. A sharp gasp was all that could escape his lips as he fell to the mist wetted stones beneath him. Even his formidable power was unable to save him from the grievous wound inflicted by the demon...

Though this is how history records things, that is not how it ended; for you see, Iske is still alive...

...cursed to live as a woman.

"Times change... people change.... I am no longer Iske Zaishinoa, the Twilight Monk.."

"I am Iske Zaishinoa, the Priestess of Ages."

Seven shards.

One stone.

So many ways for the key to existence to screw up and end it all.

[Note: I suck.]
