I wish people would mind their own damn business

I have at least one and possibly two neighbors that are obsessed with my lawn. When it gets an inch or two too long they call the landlord. Usually they call about the front lawn since the back is mostly out of sight but today someone put a note in the mailbox (leaving it open to get rained in) saying that if we dont cut it by the weekend that they'll call the city and landlord. The funny thing is that city ordinance is 13" and our lawn is much shorter than that.

What really pisses me off is that they never said anything in person and keep crying to the landlord over something that has nothing to do with them. We're not breaking any laws and not telling them how to manage their yard why do they have to obsess over ours? Especially the back?! The dog, me and my girlfriend are the only ones who use the backyard and if we dont mind it long why should they? What gives someone the right to try and bully me into the stupid middle class obsession with lawncare?

I'm planning on mowing it at about 9pm tomorrow night 'til whenever it's done (usually about 2 hrs). I work afternoon/nights so I can't just mow it at 5 like all the 9-5ers do and I don't want to go to work smelling like exhaust and grass so I'm not cutting it beforehand. I checked with the city and 11pm is the cutoff for noise... I just know that people are going to be upset about the noise but hopefully they'll realize that they're getting exactly what they asked for.

I really wish my neighbors weren't such pricks 'cuz I'd really like to live in a community and not just on a street. I wish I could live somewhere where people were still nice and not just self centered assholes.

Maybe I need to call the city about the people next door that let their trash blow all over (especially since I'm pretty sure it's them who wrote the note). Or maybe I can just print a really big banner to put on the fence that says "pick up your trash and I'll cut my lawn"

Sorry to rant, I'm just very annoyed...
Grr
