Aaron almost never went out with his team. Considering the fact that he was the boss, he didn't feel as if they would have much fun with him around. But, if the past few years had taught him anything, it was that his team was his family and never minded having him around, and that if Spencer Reid even alluded to doing anything with the team after work hours, he HAD to join in or the rest of his subordinates would riot. With pitchforks and annoying phone calls every 3 minutes asking his wareabouts.
Aaron had to admit, for a while there he had thought the younger agent would be lost to them but here he was, still on the team, stronger than ever before. He could only thank God it was so.
It had taken almost losing Reid to get Aaron to admit a few home truths about exactly what he felt for the younger man. His heart had almost been torn out when he had finally, finally, plucked up the courage to say something about his feelings to the younger man, only to be turned down.
Apparently, if he hadn't waited so long, he would have had a chance, the younger man having had feelings for his boss for years with no hope of them ever being returned. However, now Reid was apparently no longer single...hadn't BEEN single for at least a year, beginning just a few weeks after the cluster fuck that was New Orleans and his Dilauded addiction.
To be fair, Spencer hadn't let the knowledge that his boss was in love with him affect the team. Nor had he let it affect how he acted towards Aaron himself. Sure, they seemed to be closer now than ever before, but Reid never used his knowledge against him, ever. Even when he probably deserved it.
And now, here he stood, in a large club which looked like a cross between a dance clob and a bar/restaurant, watching Dr. Spencer Reid talk to a woman with long, curly hair who only stood up this his nose about...something technical, apparently, as they both started tweaking buttons and nobs on the control board before them.
