... I should really put a warning to this journal, something like "Beware the cinema addict".
So, on saturday night, I watched Y Tu Mamá También and oooh it was so good. I loved it, yes, but I still don't get the HUGE craze it brought - Amores Perros is still my favorite Mexican movie.
At first, I couldn't remember why the omnipresent narrator annoyed me, until I remembered about El Cielo Dividido (of which I complained in
here), and if I'd only seen Y Tu Mama Tambien first, I would've loved them. ANYWAY. Loved the building of character, and how each of their characteristics is explained with sex. Loved the tiny bits of information about what has or will happen in every other places. THE ACTING! OMG the acting was so good, and the sex was hot and fantastic, and you definitely know it'll be a good movie when Diego Luna's bottom is the first thing you see. *nods* Also, it captured so well the spirit of Mexico on the road, the old ladies torteando and the almost ghost towns. Beautiful scenaries, the lot. The dirty language was a bit annoying, though, and this coming from the girl that uses 'no mames' and 'chingada' on a daily basis.
Let us move un to the slashyness. Ooooh. The way Luisa saw through the guys attraction all the time was awesome ("You can go and fuck each other if you want. Just don't dare come near me,"), the same as her annoyance at the way they're such MALES that didn't even respect their 'charolastra' manifiesto XD Their attraction was build up so well, and ugh, but I practically melted at the kiss. Melted. That's why I wanted to rent it, so I could play it again and again *blushes* And the ending was perfect. Awkward and bittersweet and so real.
And that's how I know that I loved a movie, when I really feel like writing fic about it later, even if in this case I'd really like to write it in Spanish 0_o it'd be WEIRD to see it in English. (And how does all the 'poca madres' are translated, anyway?)
I stayed a lot of time with my grandma today, which I hate to do on Sundays, because that's the day the TALKATIVE NURSE OF DOOOOM goes. Seriously, she doesn't stop talking. EVER. And you can't even talk amongst one another because she'll go and get into the conversation forefully. So I read and pretended I didn't hear her. Just like my granda does XD (and she says her boyfriend has this odd disease that keeps him to share body fluids with her for a year. Gee, wonder why he won't touch you?)
Then, I went to see Walking On Water with dad. And it was amazing.
It's about this guy from the Mossad, that is sent to investigate the grandchildren of a notorious nazi, and ends up befriending both the sister and the brother. Wonderful movie about how hatred continues generations after, even when it shouldn't - the siblings are awully nice, the girl actually lives in Israel. Funny at times, haunting at others, and with this lovely slashy subtext - Axel, the German guy, is gay, and Eyal actually acts jealous of him for a while. The locations are beautiful! Half of the movie happens on Israel, and the other half on Berlin.
I'm not really doing it any justice plot-wise, so just go and see it, it's worth it. :)
