I feel so much better now that I'm writing on a more regular basis. It's just very rewarding.
So talking about writing, I write much better - and easier - with music on, and for some reason I tend to latch onto a few songs that sort of convey the mood I want to give a story and then listen to them on repeat until I finish a story. It's usually instrumental, epic-y music, mostly from soundtracks. For
Geometry, my last Doctor Who fic, I listened to The Other Side by Michael Nyman from the Gattaca soundtrack, just that song in a constant repeat. For that fic for The Borgias I was listening to the opening song, the opening song from The Tudors and Saving Josh from the Moonlight OST, all of them by Trevor Morris. Last year for that Doctor Who fic when Rory was still dead and gone from existance and stuff, I listened to Bat for Lashes in repeat, and I still think of Rory everytime I listen to Siren Song, especially on that last verse.
Right now, for X-men fic I'm still listening to The Other Side, and added The One Moment, also from the Gattaca soundtrack, Kanada's Death, Pt. 2 (Adagio In D Minor) from the Sunshine soundtrack and The Mummer's Dance from Loreena McKennitt. The latter would be fantastic for Merlin fic writing, by the way. But I think I just listened obsessively to The Fountain's soundtrack while I wrote Merlin stuff. That soundtrack gets played a lot in here, it's beautiful beyond words.
So, what do you guys listen to while writing (or drawing, or being creative, or something)? I find it to be fascinating stuff.
