ah, fantastically pointless human behavior.

I wonder what it is that makes us revert to our petty child-selves when we're with our parents. I mean, it's as if we went back to the position we had in the family at like age 10, or something. I act more pampered and whiny with my family than when I'm on my own, definitely.

And take, for example, the boy, who is usually a really rationally-driven man that strives for independence and yadda yadda. When we were at his parent's house for Easter, though? Yikes, it was as if I'd suddenly gotten a different boyfriend, one that was a surly teenager of about 15 and spoke only in monosyllables and radiated 'you totally don't understand my woe!!1!' vibes. Like, he's quite aware of how doing PhDs tend to make people get fat (lolarious but true), so he's always raging about adding more broccoli to his diet and omg eating healthy (and yet he's still getting 'omg you're getting chubby!' comments from other people, lol), yet when his mom said there was some fruit in the house, he went, 'eugh, fruit. I HATE fruit."

His sister bakes a cake and he's like, 'ew, it's probably poisonous!' And when his parents suggested he should probably get new socks to replace the holey ones he was wearing, he went 'I don't NEED new socks, these are FINE.' and frowned a lot.

And then, as soon as we got back to Leeds, he went 'wow, I really need new socks,' after which I promptly went *HEADDESK*.

In summary, PARENTS MAKE US ACT STUPID.

Speaking of, though, I finally got a present for the boy's B-Day on Friday! Yay! I got him a Bob Dylan Encyclopedia, which I hope he doesn't have already, as he totally fanboys Dylan and adores his many, many books about the man.

why yes i'm pining, boys
