I'm re-reading Watchmen (now in pretty trade paperback, oh, it's gorgeous), paying extra attention to the details int he background and the fantastic grid layouts (you tend to not notice the first day around, but Dave Gibbons is a genious in regards to layouts), and lo, much amusement was had!
Turns out, the Comedian's middle name is MORGAN, ahaha. I guess it was just fated. XD
Now, book time!
Phyllida and the Brotherhood of Philander is a bisexual regency romance, which is all kinds of weird, but fun all the same. It's got the quick dialogue and wit of regency romances, and their dark, tall, broody heroes, with the added bonus of boys kissing each other a lot. The ending was... questionable, and it'll never win any big awards or anything, but it's pretty entertaining and I couldn't stop reading. The 'dirty talk' though, has serious, serious issues.
Arráncame la Vida I read because my grandma lent it to me. It's nowhere near as 'blah' as the movie based on it was, although it shares the same clipped, too-short dialogue. The movie wouldn't have been as boring if the female lead had been as almost-shallow and quick-witted as in the book. So, in any case - not a masterpiece, not at all, but it was good, and I read it in like, three days.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard was rather lovely. The fairy tales were adorable, and the illustrations (so talented, this woman), but my favorite part of the book was no doubt Dumbledore's thoughts on them - I hadn't realized how much I'd missed his voice or his rather dry humor, but lo, it seems that I had. XD My favorite part, though, has to be this excerpt, which isn't spoilery, and just an comment by Dumbledore.
A large white rabbit was subsequenty seen crossing the English Channel in a cauldron with a sail fitted to it, and a similar rabbit later became a trusted advisor at the court of King Henry VI.
LOL LOL LOL. Just. That image, you know? XD Oh, Potter universe, never change. (The little sail, omg!)
I love this song, it's so unapologetically shallow. Still, the whole 'it's gonna be okay' it's what's kept me sane for these past few weeks - with me being so nervous as of lately, I'll take all the flippancy I can get.
