So, After I lurked around in
iulia_linnea's meme compilation (
Subtextual Healing - The HP Character Random Facts/Things Meme Compilation and Fic [and Art] Fest! (Edited)), I was in love with the idea and went and wrote my own meme. And then I found out it had kind of a deadline... But still, I liked doing this, although I don't think it comes near to some of the marvelous entries there. My favorites are 3, 13 and 18. Hope you like it!

1. His mother found him sitting by the window when he was three and a half, a book on his lap and pretending to read it out loud while watching at the pictures. She stared at him from the doorframe for at least twenty minutes before he realized he was being watched, and then she just smiled and taught him his first letter: R.
2. A year later, he entertained himself by reading everything, being the newspaper, his older cousins’ diaries or the floating letters of his favorite cereal. Letters were fun, and over the years he learnt to think of them as magical as all the subjects he ever learned at Hogwarts.
3. His favorite book used to be Little Red Riding Hood, until a week after his six birthday, when he met a real wolf.
4. The day his friends found out about his lycanthropy, Remus didn’t cry. He sighed with relief because then he wouldn’t have to lie to them anymore, even when he was sure they would most likely hate him.
5. Sirius and James were so surprised at how Remus reacted to their accusations, as if being hated and treated as a creature was normal to the apparently quiet boy; that they were silent and agape with surprise for a long time, and Peter was the one who told him in a tiny voice that he didn’t like him less, and could he please let him borrow Remus’ Charms essay?
6. That is the reason Remus never suspected him.
7. He realized he was in love with Sirius Black the day in which Sirius laughed too hard at one of his jokes and spit pumpkin juice all over his face, and Remus could only smile at the thought that he had made Sirius laugh. That was the same day he got the worst headache of his life too, after banging his head against a wall for half an hour as punishment for his stupidity.
8. His middle name was originally going to be ‘Herodotus’ but Mrs. Lupin argued both his first and last name were strange enough and the boy needed something common too. Remus was always quite thankful for that when the irony of his name got to be too much after the full moon.
9. His most treasured memory is a snow fight in Fourth Year, snow covering every inch of them when they finally returned to Gryffindor Tower, lips blue and four identical grins. The second one is reading next to the fire in a rainy day, Sirius by his side talking about nothing with his arm across Remus’ shoulders.
(Although he tried to forget about it for thirteen years.
He failed.)
10. He lost his virginity to a boy named Terence Higgins in Sixth Year, and Sirius was so mad when he found out a month later that he kissed him against a wall in an effort to make Remus forget everything about Higgins.
He succeeded.
11. His excuse to hide his monthly disappearings became true when he was fifteen, and his mother died a bit after that. The four boys set on fire a log with Remus’ never sent goodbye letter pinned to it, and then put it on the Lake to watch it burn in a fake Viking funeral; a feeble attempt to cheer Remus up. They all got drunk that night with stolen firewhiskey, and when Remus went home to the funeral the next day, the thought of his friends kept him from breaking down completely.
12. He did break down because of them eventually, on October 1981; when he realized he was all alone once again.
13. He does a small prank every Halloween, since he knows the James and Peter (and eventually Sirius, once he found out the truth) of his school days would never forgive him for not living up to the Marauders’ legend.
(And because it’s the only thing that keeps him from getting too depressed to actually live.)
14. He doesn’t think he’s going to live to see James’ grandchildren, and on his gloomiest, he can’t help but wonder if there’s going to be any.
15. Fenrir Greyback tried to convince him to join the Death Eaters a year after he left school, and Remus cursed him without saying a word. That’s why his confidence was so hard to gain while Remus was underground in 1996.
16. When he first heard about Sirius betraying the Potters, he laughed. Then he thought about all of those nights Sirius had come home late and the silent fucking and the empty talks; and then he cried.
17. The day his father was killed by Death Eaters, the Dark Mark smiling at him mockingly from the roof of his house; was the day he went to Dumbledore’s office and swore allegiance to the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore never tried to persuade him.
18. Four months before the Potters murders, Harry fell asleep on Remus’ chest, and he lay on the couch for two hours just staring at him, one of his fingers grasped tightly by the slumbering child, and Remus smiled truly for the first time of the year (it was the last time, too, but he prefers not to think of it that way).
19. He couldn’t decide whether that June night in 1994 had been one of the best or the worst of his life, until a letter signed with a paw print came along and best won.
20. The first full moon he was accompanied by a dog a stag and a rat, Remus felt so happy that he howled at the moon freely for the first time in his life.
