About life in the 80s
Ashes to Ashes 1x05: I never seem to have any real thinky thoughts about this franchise, but I did like this episode a lot. It's getting interesting, smart and much more alike to Life on Mars in terms of quality of script without losing its own flavor.
I love Alex. She's wonderful and awesome and it makes me sad to see so many people hating on her. ;__; But well. I also love her fucked up family and Alex's own fucked up mentality thanks to them. 'We Are All Prostitutes' is clearly the theme of the series, that Alex is so self-conscious that she hides it with bravado.
Gene as a Romantic Hero is both odd and appealing and... I'm sort of liking the Gene/Alex thing, although they're pushing it way too far. But still! The team on itself seems much more... competent, now, than they seemed in LoM - but I'm guessing it's due to 8 years of work PLUS Sam's good influence. Yes. Ray and Chris, oh, were wonderful! XD Ray trying to seduce the guy! XDDD lol. SHAZ, THOUGH. SHE IS SO WONDERFUL. All smart and nice and sweet. ♥
YAY for cute dude from Being Human and Who! He's all sorts of lovely, that bloke.
BUT YES. It was a very good episode; nice action, funny one-liners, awesome team interaction and a gay nightclub. Yep, very good episode. XD
I also loved the detail of Gene actually letting the informer wear his suit. L'AWWW.
