I...I can SEE!!

So I got my first pair of prescription glasses yesterday. I knew my vision had been getting worse over the past couple (maybe more) years, but I had gotten used to it. Its the only thing you *can* do. I could live with it, certainly, but I was looking forward to being able to read the faroff freeway signs at least *close* to the same time my brother can, instead of waiting for him to tell me what they say.

The glasses were expensive. I don't have vision - I had never needed it before - and I had to pay for them out-of-pocket. Plus no way was I going to be stuck with crappy frames. ;) So I mostly wanted to get my hands on them because I had paid a lot for them and wanted them in my possession.

But I can't tell you how cool it is to see everything sharper. I was sitting at a red light on my way to the gym from the eye doctor's, tilting my head forward to look at something far away with my bare eyes, then lifting my head to look through the glasses and beam as everything got sharper, then turning and doing it again with another faroff object. I hope no one was watching me and wondering what the hell the crazy lady in the SUV was doing with her head.

Guess what I can do now? I can sit *on the couch*, all the way on the other side of the room from the TV, and turn the Comcast to the channel guide, and I can *read* it without feeling like my eyes are popping out of my head trying to focus. I'd say that alone was worth the money.

edit: I forgot to add Kiwibird's reaction. I had thought for sure she would either 1) be afraid of the glasses or 2) try to eat them. She did neither. *Yet*. Once she's used to them she may go into destroy mode.
