Public Service Announcement
EDIT: Having sort of kind of cooled off, I pondered editing the following, but instead, am just going to cut tag it.
The following rage was seriously because I do not like having my feelings disregarded and having people shove things I consider to be absolutely DISGUSTING in my face after I have made it clear I find such things disgusting, hurtful, etc.
Seriously. Think of my LJ as my house. I am inviting you people into it, because I generally like you people, or think you are intelligent and nifty. A side effect of liking someone or whatever IS in fact, caring what you think, what you say, and how you treat me.
THIS DOES NOT mean I want you guys leaving garbage all over my home, burning it down, or whatever. An argument is not garbage. Saying "I don't care what you think, or that you find this kind of talk to be offensive and evil, and am going to keep smearing it all over and in your face" is garbage. Disregarding that I have said I do not want to hear certain things said about certain subjects is garbage.
When I say I am sick of something and have no sense of humor regarding it anymore. I MEAN IT.

IF ONE MORE GODDAMNED PERSON ON MY FRIENDS LIST OR AIM BUDDY LIST THINKS IT IS COOL OR FUNNY TO BRING UP MRS. DUGGAN AND TRY AND SAY THAT PEOPLE LIKE HER ARE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD OR SHOULD BE KILLED/STERILIZED, I AM GOING TO STRANGLE THEM.
Fuck everyone who wants to villainize people who actually WANT or LIKE big families, just for that ONE damn reason. Fuck you all in the eyesockets.
Yeah, I said there is an overpopulation problem. But if someone brings up 'thinning the herd' there are so many other places to start. The size of a family is NOT how you motherfucking judge it, you assholes. There are 'families' with SINGLE KIDS who are probably way higher up on the 'shouldn't breed' and 'child is in misery' lists than this one.
Bring up awareness that smaller families might be better, yes. Can even say "Wow, I can't believe people still want such big families" or something nice.
Viciously attack any family who thinks otherwise, no. Say this woman is evil or deserves something bad to happen to her. NO. Or her husband. Or her kids.
Show me ONE goddamned article talking about how bad off Mrs. & Mr. Duggan's kids are. SHOW ME ONE PIECE OF PROOF that they are uncaring, nasty parents to their children. SHOW ME ONE BIT OF PROOF that they will not be able to keep these children housed, fed, and in school, or that they refer to them by numbers or abuse them. If you can find evidence that these people don't deserve to breed beyond the 'evidence' that they are Christian, and from Arkansas, I would love to see it, and then maybe you can make judgement calls of some sort.
You don't tell me to have a kindergarten full of kids because it is my 'duty', you don't tell someone else they cannot have the family they want and feel they can honestly support because it is THEIR duty.
I thought I made where I stood on this clear in my last LJ post. Apparently not.
So maybe this post will clarify it. And if you are wanting to 'just be joking', then don't. Just. Don't.
With all the shit I am putting up with this week, I do not need this kind of crap further eroding my faith in human nature and intelligence.

Not that I am advocating you guys be nasty about the father, because I will be fucking furious if you are, but why the hell is Mrs. Duggan the only person you want to insult?
As to the "naming kids stupid names" thing, well if people like you didn't feel you had to be morally/intelectually superior and sneer or bully families who've made naming arrangements you disagree with, then the kids would hardly be so damned emotionally scarred as a result.
