Blah!
So.. there's some authors who sells pretty well at the store.. southwestern mysteries, featuring native american detective sorts of things. David & Aimee Thurlo.
I picked up Second Sunrise to get acquainted.. it has vampires and supposedly, according to the back cover, is all cool with Navajo culture and beliefs.
This book SUCKS.
It's just.. boring. Very boring. The characters are cardboard cutouts, the writing seems stilted. Even though briefly there's a little Navaho stuff, it just isn't nearly as in-depth as I'd hoped. This book has absolutely NOTHING on Mercedes Lackey's Sacred Ground.
I don't think I'm going to bother finishing it. I'm finding I'm already skipping entire pages, even three or so at a time.
Blah. I'll maybe pick up a book and skim it at work to see if this is an oddball bad one, but don't think I'll buy it, not even used.
Hopefully this one can be traded right back in :p
