Dressing for the weather

I have this problem where, every year around this time, I start dressing much too warmly for Seattle's mild weather. It's like I forget I'm not in the Midwest anymore, and I end up feeling disgusting all day ( Read more... )

I find that a scarf added to a light jacket or even just a hoodie does wonders. One year in Cleveland, I just never wore a coat - it was all hats and scarves and gloves and wool sweaters, and it was really just fine.

You'd think that 3 years in a place would make me used to the weather, but no. I'm glad there's another transplant who can relate!

I'm a transplant with a different issue.

I think I'm going to have to start bringing gloves everywhere I go. It's cold out there.

Oh, it's even worse for you, I'm sure! DC is the south in my mind.

DC is definitely the south. Any place where they freak out over an inch of snow counts as south.

If it makes you feel better, there still hasn't been a frost in Cleveland, and just last weekend it was a glorious 70 degrees.

Typically I'm the guy wearing jeans and a t-shirt out into the snow, so you'd think this would be to warm for me, but given how much I expect my heating bill to be this winter, I'm totally fine with this.

I think we did have a frost the other morning. It was only 32 for a little while, but it happened.

I'm actually kind of excited that my ACUs are about the right amount of clothing and I don't need to go in pursuit of winter Army gear.

I have this problem about twice a month... I'm in Cleveland and I'm freezing. I go to Tokyo and it's around 50. But if I dress for 50 in Cleveland I freeze... But if I dress for 50 I freeze when I come home. And in Tokyo 50 seems warm for me so I walk around in just a hoodie. Everyone else is wearing scarves and gloves and they look at me like I'm insane. But then I end up packing too much and my luggage gets heavier than usual...
