A joke, yes--but on whom?

This morning, geeks on at least two continents are trying to make sense out of a bizarre press release and related news articles (1, 2) about a "successful" trial of DVD-sniffing dogs at the FedEx's UK hub at Stansted Airport.

Anyone have any additional information about this?
