Well, here we are. I've just left Daria to sleep at the hospital - RMMH for now. Her ultrasound today diagnosed her with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS, it's a mouthful). Because they're identical girls, they share fluids, and with this they share it unequally. Both of them are in trouble, Cassandra isn't getting enough nutrition and Phoebe is getting far too much. There are things we can do. Daria is on steroids at the moment, and we'll know after twenty four hours if they have had any effect. She has an appointment with the Fetal Medicine Unit at St George's hospital on Friday - they don't have any free beds until the weekend. We'll see what happens then.
She's on horizontal bed rest at the moment. She hates it already. She's told me to say "fucking visit me," so, heed that.
Right now we're holding onto best case scenarios. Specialist hospitals can manage this well, these days. Besides, if they're anything like their mother, they'll be fine.
