Ack! I put this off too late and now you probably got linked to a placeholder, for which I am truly sorry. Despite appearances to the contrary, I am SO excited for you to write a fic for me, and obviously usual disclaimers in these types of letter apply: you should take everything I say as only a guideline and can disregard it if it's not your thing.
So! Random shit I like: prison escape stories, stupid sitcom-esque plots, bantering, ~chosen families~, robots, dogs, robot dogs.
Kraken - China Mieville, Paul (Kraken), Marginalia Tilley, Tattoo (Kraken)
As I said in my request, I shipped the fuck out of Paul and Marge, but that is not a requirement for you, if you don't want it to be. That said, the two of them were my favorite characters so something focusing on them would be the greatest. Like, something about how they dealt with the Tattoo and their Epic Adventures on the road (or elsewhere) after the novel ends.
Community RPF, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover
I tend to write a lot of Community fic, so in my head I have my own little idiosyncrasies and tropes and prejudices around the canon and fandom, which is why I didn't request it (because Yuletide is for rarefandoms and Community is not in the least a rare fandom at Casa Neigedens) and instead went for RPF, which I think could with similar dynamics but also be different and very interesting! I think I said gen in my request, but in reality I don't have an objection to anything shippy that you have in mind, particularly if it's among these four. Also, I listed these four because they are my favorites, but I do adore the entire cast and their dynamic so don't feel confined by the list or anything. For instance: I still love the story I think both Joel and Donald have mentioned in interviews, where Chevy Chase said he couldn't read an episode's script because his email is in New York. So, basically, if it's dramatic ship fic that has lots of angst and tears or fic that's nothing but an endless succession of jokes about how old people can't use computers, well, that's fine too! I normally do not consider myself a huge fan of RPF, but I just love the Community cast and have wanted to read some about them for a long time.
Catch-22-Joseph Heller, Nately's Whore, Nately's Whore's Kid Sister
Obviously, I am a HUGE fan of this book. It's been my favorite for a long time. I'm really interested in reading some Feminist Reclamation of this one (starting with, uh, giving the lady characters I requested names) so I'd love something from their perspective, or from Luciana's. Plot-wise you can go with whatever you like-- AU from the novel, missing scenes from the novel, sequel to that awesome zombie apocalypse fic from last year (can you imagine a zombie taking on Nately's whore? Holy shit I would pity that zombie) --but something that's still in Heller's style would be awesome.
The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne, Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding
This is basically my ultimate comfort book/movie. I think I've shipped Andy and Red before I even knew what shipping was, so I guess this is one fandom where I really would adore fic about their Epic Decades-Long Romance. I would prefer movie-verse fic with elements of the book, (like, I've always wondered if movie!Red was in prison for a different crime than book!Red was) and...yeah!
