Burning Bridges

Friendships are ephemeral things, aren't they? My esteem for one person was very recently destroyed when they posted a photo to Facebook of the president with a monkey's face Photoshopped in; you can hold whatever political views you want, but hateful racist shit like that has no place whatsoever in adult discourse. Conversely, someone else's esteem for me has apparently been damaged IRL because of my opinion on a particular matter; and if said opinion makes me a monster in some eyes, so be it, because my patience with fools is at an all-time low. I am, unfortunately, a realist/rationalist/empiricist/pragmatist with strong spiritual leanings, a combination that I assure you is as deeply uncomfortable for me at times as it is for those around me.

My old dance-related injury reawakened this past week, which was merely annoying until Friday morning. I bent over to pick something up and sneezed while I was bent, and it felt like someone stabbed me in the spine. The rest of the weekend was less pleasant than it might have been, thanks to the miserable pain that accompanied my every move. It's slowly improving, but damn. This getting older thing, I do not recommend it.

Not much else to report, other than my general disgust with humanity--this being common in election years--and the faint glimmer of hope that there may be an employment prospect on the horizon. Will keep you posted.

do not want, crazy people, fml
