HOLY BALLS WHAT WAS THAT I DON'T EVEN

My reaction to tonight's Bones, succinctly:

* Dear Hart Hanson et al, here's a shovel. See if you can dig ANY LOWER.

* Way to leave the door open for a potential return of Baghdad Barbie--say, just in time to shake up a newly-forged Booth/Brennan relationship sometime next season? (Just remember I called it when it appears on your screen next year!) Honestly, having her say "FOR NOW" in that pointed way just felt like a huge fuck you from the writers.

* Sweets is officially the worst influence on Booth, ever, and if he's still even marginally involved in Booth's (or Brennan's, for that matter) life in any sort of counseling capacity, then he's also the most unethical psychologist in the history of EVER and should have his license yanked immediately.

* That drunken speech at the end there? Yeah, I was going to write a similar speech in a fanfic, only much less misogynistic and dickish. Because, Booth? You were right about one thing: the one thing all your failed relationships have in common is YOU. Seriously, I don't think I've ever liked Booth less than during that speech, and my heart broke for Brennan hearing it.

* And Brennan would have been completely within her right to get up and walk away from that rant. But even as Booth stuck it out with her after the 100th, so she is apparently going to stick it out with him in the wake of this--as Just Partners, even if it's heartcrushing and miserable for a while.

* Aaaaand looks like next week is going to be played for laughs. OK!

ETA: I'm also a little concerned that we finally got a glimpse of the real Booth last night, when Hannah turned him down; the personality switch was Jekyll-and-Hyde abrupt, and the end scene with Brennan only reinforced it. I think that underneath that happy-go-lucky, optimistic, romantic Booth there lies an angry, sullen, bitter man who is mortally frustrated with the way his life has unfolded and utterly incapable of seeing how he is himself responsible for any of it. Did he ever listen to any of those women who just out of hand dismissed his overtures? Did he ever hear anything but what he wanted to hear, consider anything but his own desires? I'm not sure. Ick. My OTP is tainted now. Unless some really drastic changes happen, I don't think this man is at all good for Brennan, or any other woman. At this point, he's about one step away from starting the downward slide to becoming like his father. :(

Edited for further commentary. I need to invite some more Bones fans to this journal...
