Part of it, anyway. Sunday was spent
here, playing pirate. I must admit that hanging over the quarter deck railing, shooting black powder (blanks, of course) at approaching marauders, was fun. It was an unscripted battle, as most of them are at reenactments, and I was one of the few women pirates to participate. It earned me the following accolade from my husband and pirate-partner-in-crime (and I quote):
"You looked just like your Emily Deswhatshername, flapping around out there like you're a bigger badass than you really are. It looked like something on TV."
Which is gratifying, because I used to take my acting very seriously. And while Agnes of God and Private Lives were more challenging, there were no cutlasses or flintlock pistols involved. Weaponry makes things even more fun.
