Oh my various gods, I suck!
I had the worst session this afternoon since I was a complete beginner. I was staggering and stumbling and flailing about. Think zombies on ice skates. I must have caught my toepick half a dozen times, and while doing nothing more complex than forward stroking! My session was made of fail, and I was not a happy skater when I finally gave it up as a lost cause 45 minutes in.
Damn. That, plus the realization that my sedentary geek-life has caught up to me has left me in something of a funk. My muscles (yeah, they're still in there, just all limp and noodly) protest the mildest efforts, my stamina is for shit, things ache that shouldn't, and things that should be firm are not, so much. Now, obviously, the cure for all of this is exercise, targeted to the problem areas, along with keeping a weather eye on my diet. Unfortunately, when you have a sedentary desk-job life and you've gotten to the point where all you do is work and eat and sleep, and you're exhausted and limp, it's very hard to find the energy and motivation to start with the exercising. All you want to do is sit down and wait for the exercising urge to pass. It's a bit of an impasse. To call me frustrated would be to greatly understate my frame of mind.
