So, my missing paycheck from the 15th is finally being deposited11!!1  It should clear no later than tomorrow.  I'm so (excited) and (happy).  WHOOPIE!!!

Recently I got into an arguement online with some douche nutbag about my tastes in music.  It was one of those usual "what type of music do you like" thing and I mentioned a few of my favourite artists (I've been listening nonstop to Jon Lucien, Sade, Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, Jackson5, etc- my favourite music in the world is 60s/70s groove, rock, etc.  I also love 80s jpop like Anzen Chitai, etc).  I also mentioned a few of the artists I dislike such as Utada Hikaru, Zard, Mika Nakashima, etc.  I was then completely attacked because I mentioned I disliked Zard, purely slandered as being insensitive to the fact that she's dead.  I hardly said anything specific on why I didn't like her work.. just that it never interested me.  Alive or dead, I'm still not interested.  It was an unfortunate and untimely death but how does that effect how I feel about her work?

And to further the situation, someone went ahead and peeked at my last.fm page, which is of course public.. and proceeded to call me a 'liar' on my music tastes: my top 8 artists do not include any of the above I've mentioned, but yes, includes Utada Hikaru with 179 plays.  I've said it before and I'll say it again.  My last.fm page is actually a very poor reflection of what I listen to.  It's nothing more than a computerized list of what's being played from my iTunes.  I download just about everything I can get my hands on both good and bad (how can I claim to dislike something if I've never heard it) and I save everything to one, giant iTunes playlist and leave it playing pretty much all day on and off.  I'M HARDLY EVER AT MY LAPTOP.  Yes, I know it's retarded but it's my laptop, my stupidity, my choice.  And as for my favourite artists not even being on my list.. for the final time.. MOST OF MY ALBUMS ARE NOT IN CD FORM.. and the ones that are, I dislike playing them on my laptop.  I have a huge stereo system and a nice boombox.. why on earth would I bother popping them into my laptop which has tiny speakers and relatively low volume?  Not to mention, a huge chunk of my favourite albums and singles are vinyl records.. I listen to them more than dozens of times a day.. I'm not even sure why I should have to explain myself in the first place.  But it becomes annoying when people constantly try to label me a hypocrite for something so ridiculous.

In this day and age, it's sad how people take the online world as the gospel truth and make assumptions on other people's lives when for the most part, pages like myspace, livejournal, last.fm, facebook.. they're just pieces of people's lives.. not the entire shabang.  I doubt many people spend their entire day in front of their computer (and if they do.. that's just sad)- there's more to life than podcasts, RSS feeds, php, whatever.  If I don't respond to an email, maybe I'm actually busy.  If Utada Hikaru is #1 on my last.fm, maybe it was just played over on the playlist.  If I don't post pictures of the brand new shirt or handbag I just bought, maybe I'm just not into throwing things in people's faces.
