Autumn Speaks

Feb 27, 2006 15:12

October leaves me rustling
In a swirl of song and sighing
For everything and everyone
That loves while slowly dying

This is real, this is autumn
And it speaks into our falling

The dance of red and gold softly
Fills her ears with whispers
Of the man she loved last winter
And the night that he last kissed her

He was near, it was autumn
And it spoke into their falling

Lonely nights and lazy days
Descending through the dusky breeze
Clumsily unclothing shadowy majesty
Her coldly beautiful face, ashes scattering after
Her firm embrace and chattering laughter
Haunting the darkness before sleep

We are fading slowly and surely
On the chain of yesterday's tomorrows
Infinite links woven through
The interlocking curves of joy and sorrow

We are here, in this autumn
And it speaks beyond our falling
