Cheerful news for the New Year...

I received a large envelope from Wash U while I was in Puerto Rico, and when all the mail I had held arrived the other day, I excitedly thought they had sent my diploma earlier than the anticipated February date. Instead, there was a letter inside informing me that I did not meet the requirements of the Arts & Sciences school for graduation because I did not meet the Religious Studies department's requirements OR fulfill all of my distribution requirements.

Bottom line--Eliaser R. Chaparro, you do not graduate from college this semester. Happy New Year!

So, I'm frustrated, but I can honestly say I was almost expecting this. It was all happening on much too short of a timeline. At any rate, the administrators and professors should be back on campus next week, so I'll make phone calls again and see what happens. In order to be eligible for the May graduation, I will have to sort it all out by February 3rd. That seems like a long time to get that done, but this all depends on other people responding to my communications and acting accordingly in a timely fashion. Remember, this the same school where I emailed and called the head of the Religious Studies program FIVE times before my October voyage to see if I could finish the work long distance.

So, I'm still a college dropout. Sweet.
