Bienvenidos a Costa RIca!!!

So I'm here in San Jose, Costa Rica!!! It seems kind of surreal to be here since I've been planning and saving and stressing about this trip for months now. The flight wasn't too bad. A little turbulence and I think it always kind of sucks traveling alone. Customs wasn't as scary as I thought it would be so that was a pretty big relief.

I was worried about my Spanish being up to par but the other two girls I've met so far don't seem to be too great at it either. There are supposed to be ten of us all together (all girls!) and so far I've met two. One of them goes to my school and the other one goes to Miami. Both of
them are in sororities and don't really seem like people I'd mesh with well. They wanted to know about going out and were talking about the fake IDs and other crap that I don't care about. I hope the rest of the girls are cooler.

The hotel that we're at is pretty nice. No central AC but with the rain its not so bad. Tomorrow we have an eight hour car ride to Las Cruces research station which is where we'll be staying for like I think the next two weeks.

I haven't seen much of CR so far but what I have seen is pretty beautiful. The coordinator of the program who I expected to be like 50 turned out to be in his mid to late twenties and he's REALLY cute. He kind of looks like a Hispanic Edward Notorn (which may sound weird but trust me on this one) He actually is doing is PhD at UF. I think I would have preferred him to be butt ugly or old and then I would have no reason to feel self concious around him :)

The assistant coordinatinator is this girl named Sofia and she is just like the coolest chick ever. She is the girls you wish you were....really nice, really pretty, and just really worldly and down to earth. I don't think I'm cool enough to hang out with her.

I was a little scared at first when we landed just because I realized I truly was all alone in a foreign country but once I found the group I felt a little better. I did get to come out of the plane and go straight on the tarmac via stairs. I know it sounds lame but I've always wanted to do that. Everytime I've gotten off of a plane it's always been via the little portable tunnels but this time it was like bam! down the stairs and you're surrounded by gorgeous mountains.

I know I'm forgetting a million things I want to record and remember but hey I'm doing the best I can. I guess that's all for now. I'll try to update when I can. I miss you all.

PS-Tiffany, the reason it felt worse to say goodbye this time even though I'm gone longer during the school year was because I won't be able to talk to you or Talulu on the phone. I realized that on the plane ride over and was sad :(

UPDATE: found a picture of the hispanic edward norton...kind of a cheesy pic but SWOON
