The deadly sin that replaced Lust for me, as for many of my Gentle Readers, I'm sure.
Was idly (of course) reading the entries for January 2009, the month I officially Retired (except I didn't, as it turned out--continued working there as a consultant on non-appropriated funds till January 2013). At the time, I mentioned shopping for a standalone GPS. Somehow, I decided to live without one, and traveled without benefit of satellite navigation until 2019, when I finally bought a TomTom, which in the interim had dropped in price by about $100. I also mentioned buying a cellphone, and that I did, but it was a flip phone. And I still have a flip phone, having replaced the original one a few years back. If I say "hmmm, maybe it's time to buy a smartphone" will it take me until 2031 to do so. . .or will we all be implanted with smart chips by then? Will the world (or at least satellites) still be here by then?
Let's hope the dreadful news advances at the speed of sloth.
On a cheerful note, the sloth who lives at Providence's Roger Williams Park zoo is pregnant. Fiona and Wesley are expecting their little bundle of slow-moving joy in late spring. Sloth gestation period is over a year (not surprising. . .everything in its time).
