Walking in circles;

Dec 03, 2008 14:42

Right, so it's been about a week since I last posted. Sadly, my procratinating couch-potato side got the better of me. *Fails* Been going out (although not spending a lot of money :D) and watching way too much TV (cable's evil like that) mostly. Heh ><

Christmas is in 23 days and I've barely started. Well, I did get materials and all but it's more than just that ): I'm still having problems with gifts for some people and *gasp* double as birthday presents D: Thankfully, there is MAAD this Sunday *Fangirl squeals* ^^ I've been looking forward to it since before Prelims, I think. TenBuckTherapy, OIC portaits and silkscreening... *Shiny eyes* I'm must bring my sketchbook for that <3 Now, I know I hardly buy gifts. Well, unless it's chipping in for a mass one (which reminds me about the 2GB memory card I was supposed to pay for o_o). Other than the fact that MAAD is awesome, buying stuff is supporting these artists who mostly do it for fun, to express themselves. It's really nice to just go and soak up the atmosphere, get inspired. The wares are good, maybe a bit pricey at some stores but are definitely one of a kind. Click HERE for more details :D Anyone is welcome to come with me. I'm going on Saturday ^^

The Liquid City book signing at Kino that I was looking forward to for the longest time finally occured last Saturday. It started at 2 and I reached at 3+ and they were sold out. Rather disappointed. Sure, I could still get the book and all but the artists were all there. I really wanted to get there signatures ): Sonny Liew said he'd try his best to get a copy for me (signed :D) from the Malaysian signing and pass it to me. But he hasn't gotten back to me so T-T Still, I got to see so many great artists in real life. Really cool.

Sonny Liew (okay, I know you can't really see him here) He has his own Wiki page D: How wicked is that? Did work for Flight, which is a compilation of comics I stumbled upon in the library and is a really good read.

The famous Otto Fong (in the stripey tee) If he sounds vaguely familiar, I mentioned him before here. Watch ME!

Otto Fong's cute science bunnies. Apparently, some bunnies are inspired by his students. The tie is a tribute to tie wearing RI students on Mondays. (As a random side note, bunny has shiny butt o_o Lol.)

Troy Chin
Author of Resident Tourist which I got off Mr Ong's blog. Part 1 and 2 were on his website for free before it was published into books. Part 3's there though.

Andrew Tan or Drewscape
I keep seeing his work here.

After the book signing was over, someone else set up. There was a manga drawing demonstration by Studio Miu and free chibi caricatures being drawn by:

I know, her hair's pretty cool. Lol. After waiting her once, I couldn't resist but get one. I waited for a few people before finally getting one of mine :D

Chibi me :D ><
Can't believe she actually made me cute D: Then again, it is the characteristic of chibi style...

At this event, Studio Miu was promoting their manga drawing classes. Now, I'm not sure how many know that I've been dying to learn to draw manga style. Trust me, it's much easier to say that I'll get a book that teache me how to draw and practice everyday. I guess it works for some people but I'm lazy. Heh >< Plus, it's always good to have someone who knows much better than you to guide and teach. I prefer that anyway. My dad let me sign up for Thursday classes ^^ Jasmine kindly agreed to take them with me. Thanks friend! *Hugs* First lesson's tomorrow <3

Anyway, the presents don't make themselves so I shall be going soon.
