So i just got an email from SCAD
"In compliance with the "timely notice" provisions of the federal Jeanne
Clery Disclosure Act of 1998, the Savannah College of Art and Design
college security department is giving notice of an act of violence that
occurred Dec. 24 at 3 a.m. in Orleans Square, adjacent to SCAD
facilities, which were closed at the time during winter break."
Jinkee's, that doesnt sound too good..
"The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department is actively
investigating the homicide of Jennifer Ross, who was shot during an
attempted robbery. According to news reports, Ross was walking with
friends through the square when three men attempted to rob them. One of
the men struck Ross' friend, Brett Findley, 19, in the head with a gun.
Another suspect struggled to get Ross' purse. Shots were fired. One
bullet struck Ross in her lower back. One of the victims and witnesses
described the suspects as three black males wearing dark clothing, with
hoods over their heads. Their physical descriptions varied in heights
ranging from 5-feet-9-inches to 6-feet tall. They reportedly drove off
in a pewter gray-colored Ford Taurus after the attack."
Now there are four interesting points id like to make. 1) Orleans Square is literally a stones throw away from my dorm room. Not my dorm, like i could hit the square with a rock from my window. In fact, i live directly above Orleans Hall, named after the now infamous square. 2) Every black male in Savannah fits that description. 3) The Ford Taurus is one of the most common cars in America. 4) One more shooting and we will have a hat trick over at Oglethorpe House.
