It amuses me that I've become the type to go into the kitchen and turn on classical music really loud while I cook. Actually, it kind of makes me feel like the haplessly oblivious character in a movie, whose about to get stabbed in the back. (You know-like the highly cultured villain, whose sits with a glass of wine, passionately listening to opera

*mad gigglefits* Oh, yes--that would be teh height of drama. But hey, if you have to be knifed in the back...why not to some epic classical music?
Not-cool music, psssh. :D Ve shall be not-cool togethah! I love Purcell. (Well, he did do Dido and Aeneas, which is painfully gorgeous--"When I am laid in earth", just to illustrate--and I don't even much care for opera. But Baroque opera still has a suggestion of the medieval about it, and that's the redeeming quality, for me. :D) I love Purcell's King Arthur too. *happy sigh* But oh, yeah, totally with you on the geeking out. I love classical.
And eee, that's too exciting about the graphics lessons! I'm sure that'll be marvelous! :)

Wee! o/*\o I love having friends who really understand my weirdness. :DDD
I love both those songs you linked to. <3 I've got a lot of general classical/barque period collections on CD, but I really need to get some composer-specific CDs to listen to.

Of course, I also listen to country music, which not only is looked down upon by classical music purists but also by pop and rock fans as totally not cool. So I have two strikes against me. LOL
The graphics class/tutoring sounds awesome... I'd love to do something like that someday.

"What is a movie score but the modern-day equivalent of those big symphonies and operas that told stories back in the day, after all!"
Exactly. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. ^^ There are some soundtracks I'll get even without having seen the movie (or even for movies I have seen, but didn't much like). Have you ever listened to the "How to Train Your Dragon" soundtrack? Beautiful.
I'm probably more of a blue grass than country music fan. But I do understand your love of that genre, too!
You should totally fly up here and take lessons with me! She is looking for more students, I believe. XD

I've only seen the movie once, and was only half-watching as my daughter and hubby were watching in the hotel room on vacation (I was trying to catch up with some emails). But I'll keep an eye out for it again just to catch the soundtrack. I do sometimes like soundtracks for movies I've not seen... "Henry V" comes to mind. I tried to watch that (the Kenneth Brannagh one) but eh, Shakespeare is just too hard going for my tastes. But the music! Brilliant.

I like some bluegrass... I'm actually more a fan of Appalachian folk music itself than Bill Monroe's invention. I can appreciate what he brought to the table, though, because bluegrass really does pull heavily from those older songs they brought over from Ireland and Scotland.
