Whoohoo, this is such a great read!! I loved the subdued, honest moments between them, and (me being kind of a sadist) stories where Neal is in jail always have a special place in my heart. You write Neal and Peter so well, and the thought of Elizabeth having a hard time with it broke my own heart just a little bit.

Can I make one nitpicky observation, though? You spell it "Devore" (instead of Divors). It's an actual clothes designing company from California. I don't wanna come across like a know-it-all, it's just that stuff like that always catches my eye. I just can't help it.

Aww, thank you so much! *blushy* Neal-in-jail just pushes all my buttons--especially if he's clearly innocent. I wanted to write something where Peter is on his side.

Oops. Cami actually asked me if I'd looked up the correct spelling, and I was so sure I had. I know it's the clothing company...but apparently I don't know how to spell it. I always blame my dyslexia for these things. XD Thanks for the catch!

Yep, Neal in jail pushes all *my* buttons too. Innocent Neal in jail is, like, *squeeeee*.

No worries about the spelling. Shit happens, right? ;o)

Mooooooar!

Please :D

I love this, this is a kind of refreshing kind of fic, especially on the whole prison!fics in this fandom, I love how Elizabeth worries (Neal surrounded by packs of M&Ms is a funny visual!), how Mozzie is paranoid for Neal's sake, and Peter's protectiveness. Can't wait for more, this is really well written! :D :D

Aaaand one more for the road, :D

Yeah, I know...the link popped up when I send my comment. A nice reward!

With this story and the one by dragonfly I have a good start, so I think I will keep my eye out specifically for this kind of stories.

(oh, and I love your animal icons, they are cute)

"He radiated closed-off self-sufficiency. Calm. Misery."
Kudos!

“I fit in much better right where I am. Me and all the other white guys in here. Edging up on constituting ten percent of the population, are we?” I hope everyone took this as I did: that Neal is demonstrating he does NOT in fact fit in, and that the words are Neal's and are to be taken as such. You give other hints that lead me to believe that certain groups segregate themselves, that it is dangerous to try to break into some of these groups, and that Neal's group--white guys--is in the minority. I really think Neal at large is much more cosmopolitan than that, but I guess that in prison he has to follow prison conventions.

Great fic! Thanks for sharing it.,

Oh, yes, there's big time segregation, on the part of the prisoners themselves, by race/gang affiliations, especially when it comes to Rikers. For a non-violent white-collar criminal like Neal, it would be a matter of survival to be aware of that. I think you're absolutely right about Neal being of a more cosmopolitan mindset--but, as far as my research into the system goes (again, specifically in Rikers) Neal would quite literally be part of a "ten percent" population of "white guys." It really wouldn't be a matter of his open-mindedness so much as everyone else's lack of it (as I hear it, second hand, of course XD). As far as they would be concerned, he would be "out," not eligible for most gangs, regardless about how he felt about joining one. *grin* Sorry if that didn't come across quite clearly enough in the story ( ... )
